... for the times to come. You say they were unimportant matches. Which one. The one in which Javed Miandad hit the last ball six. Or the Benson N Hedges matches in 99-2000. Remember Saqlain and Waqar hitting Javagal over the park. Or the match in which Saeed Anwar got 194 was unimportant. Go to a cricket site bachay and get some results. Pakistan has a better record against India in India. And what, It was first test the Indians won in Pakistan in 55 years. 55 Mr. And wait for another 55 years. N we defeated India in India so many times that even we do not remember. So, these were the list of unimportant matches. Could you give me the detail of important ones. Ok, you won in the world cups. Thankfully you did. But, poor souls have to wait for 4 years to see a victory. N Thankfully to the umpiring that you saw a few victories before 4 years. N by the way, Its just 4 matches. N it would soon be 10-4 in favour of Pakistan. N about the sites, there are many, but its nice to ignite indians when they have lost. Even without Waqar and Wasim today Pakistan is the best. N We would take the oxygen out of India.

Oh boy! you seem to be a professor in history of indian cricket. well I don't blame u for that. When the sport in ur own country is rottening with untalented Shoaibs n Shabeers n bombings n bribes then one ought to look to other countries! As always Pakis only know hatred and revenge only n that shows in ur words. By the way sir both ur 'talented' bowlers Waqar and Akram were cheats who used to tamper balls n take bribes. Its a well known fact that they got away becos of contacts in high places. And lastly, say what you may, you HAVE lost even in ur win! We'll see what is the scoreline in world cups ten years from now, till then keep collecting data from past matches, it'll help u in the long run!

HaHaHaHa. That's more like the defeated tones of Indians to which we Pakistanis are accustomed to. For Mr. Sunny!!!!!!!!!, There was no war in 47, It was 48 at least remember the facts. Obviously this is your inherent limitation as you are an indian. By the way we invaded, What?? INVADED, 1/3 of Kashmir in 1948 and its still with Pakistan and not an inch was taken back by India. Who Won???. And 65, who says you won. Go to internet get some neutral facts. You'll get to know the reality. We got a fair chunk of India and India got a bit of Pakistan. With Half the forces than India, who won???????. Let's put indian army of 1.2 million against china of 2.4 million and we'll enjoy the results. What exceptional you did. In 71, we surrendered. Ok, Let's see if India could defend a part in the western borders of Pakistan which may be considered part of India and that too with the support of Russia. For Mr. BR. We grounded India to grave in 99 when we visited India and we would do the same next year as we are coming. We defeated them in 2 out of 3 tests and defeated them in ODIs. N for Mr. Proud to be an Indian!! Tell, you what. 55 - 33 is there to stay. The next match and for the... contd.

Its real strange to see Indians saying again and again that it was just one match. If it was just one match then any match is one match. Indians are never looking to past. Y? because its bad. Count the last six matches. Its 3-3. It equals. N that Pakistani series was a very keenly fought one. Not a one sided affair as it was this match. India has defeated Srilanka and are in the Final. But, surely all the Indians would be knowing that they lost to Pakistan and today if you get an opinion from the whole of India asking that whether the Asia Cup or the win against Pakistan. Be honest. They would defintely say the win over Pakistan. Someone called Waqar and Wasim cheats. Yar, same has been said against Sachin, Saurav, Kapil Dev all. Nothing is proved. To say something is easy. Prove it mate. The difference between India and Pakistan win/loss stats is not decreasing its increasing day by day. Nobody is here to answer that why India always loses to Pakistan in India on their own soil. About other games. Mr. whoever. Look at Hockey, squash. Wallyball, the team events. That's what we are good at; united. You even lost in Football in SAF. Pity.

tendulkar the not-so-great!
by ujsesh on Jul 26, 2004 10:49 PM

the one-time master-blaster couldn't take charge ever after settling down for 43overs. It just reminds me of Gavaskar's 35 off 50overs. Forget winning, he couldn't stay to get us to reach even 240 to fetch us the bonus points. A stroke of luck from Kumble got us the bonus points but hey tendulkar gets the credit. Lets see if he can come up with even 1-matchwinning knock where he stays till the end and finish. This guy has built a spectacular average by thrashing teams like Kenya and Bangladesh in recent memory. A true class of a batsman is his matchwinning knocks where he can withstand the pressure to bat and win. Not making some flashy strokes (which he as lost too) once in a while.

Rahul
Dravid Factor
by Rahul on Jul 26, 2004 07:47 PM

Once upon a time India solely depended to S. Tendulkar to win matches for India. Television sets and TV ratings used to drop when Sachin used to get out. There was simply no chance for India when he used to get out.

Then came the Indian resurgence in Natwest Series final when India won despite being 5 wickets down for less than 150 chasing 326 runs! What followed after this series was good for Indian cricket. India still considered Tendulkar as their premier batsman but did not totally depend on him. Well, thats what the media has to say. In reality the dependence of an Indian win has been just shifted from one player to another. First it was Tendulkar and now it is Dravid.

Now if Dravid gets out early India loses! Taking a look at statistics proves this point. Dravid has been instrumental in Indian victories in recent past. He has stuck around till the end (even in Test matches) to guarantee an Indian victory. Much depends now on Dravid for an Indian victory.

I hope Dravid plays two blinders in upcoming matches to win India the Asia Cup.

Mr. Tendulkar can now only hope to become a batsman what he was 3 to 4 years ago.

Sachin should have been more aggressive

I think Sachin should've been more aggressive. He should've taken the strike keeping the Kaif otherside.

come on sachin-what are u doing
by srikanth kamath on Jul 26, 2004 01:42 PM  | Hide replies

yet again india has brought itself to a position it is known for "DO OR DIE". Pakistan again showed that they are still one of the best!!sachin played a innings which a senior player should have played but i think he is no more the sachin known as the"master blaster".He never showed the aggression to play the big shots as a master blaster should do.
one more thing that india lacked was the 7th batsmen.there was no sense in taking an extra wicketkeeper in the 14-member squad. instead hemang badani would have made a lot of difference
Hope india wins......

What else do you expect from a key player with good brain(not like sehwag),when all the other so called batsmen are back before making half of the target. So Sachin made himself adjust to play for the target which was then possible to achieve , the bonus point . But Unfortunately he was not able to be there at the centre till the end .After all my dear friend , cricket is a funny game in which any thing can happen at any moment, especially when you are under pressure. Hope you will watch him with more technical aspect of the game from here
Thanks
Praveen .
