Rahul Dravid
by A.H. Venkatachalam on Jul 20, 2004 06:11 PM

In any case, Rahul Dravid's wicket keeping leaves much to be desired. He is a novice in wicket keeping. He, therefore, himself, should opt out of wicket keeping.

Rahul as wicket keeper
by indian on Jul 20, 2004 12:40 PM

Is it really unfair to ask Rahul to keep wickets? Well right now there is no better wicket keeper than Rahul!! The day we find a good wicket keeper who can keep wickets like Rahul does if not better than him and then bat like him, Indian think tank need to think of including the Guy in the team.
The days of specialists are over,,just have a look at Australians or the Pakistanis,,,there are hardly few guys who can keep their place claiming to be a specialist for the job,,unless the guy is Glen McGrath. I think even he can defend decently with the bat when required.
If Gilchrist can keep the wickets for full ininngs and then come out as an opener then surely Dravid can enjoy some rest and come at number 2 or 3 and bat for two or two and a half hours a.
I hear this specialist kind of comments from former players who held on to their positions solely on their being specialist. A former opening specialist batsmen who bowled one or two overs or a former specialist bowler who played one or two good inings with the bat.
With due respects to their talents, I would advice these guys to stop talking about specialists in modern day cricket and accept that the days of specialists are over.

Dravid is the Boss
by Swakkhar on Jul 20, 2004 04:56 AM

If we look at the records we find that dravid(as a oneday batsman) has better records as a wicket-keeper. So i thiink its not that he should not be keeping. I think its better for indian team if he keeps the wicket coz there is a scope of playing another batsman. What india can try is that they might seek for a good batsman come keeper as soon as possible other than dravid and off course not parthiv.

Bcci shows double tounged process abt contracts, this must pay more amount for the players like dravid because he is not a regular keeper. this work is very hard to any batsman

Srinath ...your opinions are as good as your bowling - useless. You and your rotator cuff drive me mad. I think you should have retired long before you actually did. Your bowling was really ineffective and useless and I think your opinions are pretty dumb. Patel is not a great batsman and rahul can keep wickets. If you cant find a topic to write about - maybe you can just write about how yourself and veketesh prasad were two of india's worst bowlers and the weakest bowling attack at that time in the world. Kumble, on a given day, bowled faster that both you guys. Or you can write about what a charismatic duo you and sunil joshi were in the indian team. I think you should be the brand ambassador for Ferrair along with Shumi. Your charismatic and effervesent personality can go a long way. Better yet - why dont you consider acting in a Kanada movie? I think you can become a great action star and maybe act alongside Aishwarya Rai. Ok - maybe not ash - but rani or zina for sure. Think about it.

by naveen kumar on Jul 19, 2004 04:43 PM

i think they are over using rahul there should be regular keeper batsman who is natural dravid might lose is his batting carrier if he is continued, i think laxman or any one of the batsman have to sacificed for natural keeper spot

Unfair to ask Dravid to keep
by Prakash on Jul 18, 2004 08:30 PM

Indeed, it is unfair. Dravid continues to suffer because of Parthiv Patel who is being shielded at a great cost to the Indian cricket team. It is high time we took a decision one way or other with Parthiv Patel. Play him or drop him from 14. In all likelihood, it would be the later if he is forced to take a real test.
