Bull shit REASONING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by Farhan Ashraf on Jan 07, 2004 09:53 PM

Hey folks i find the article absoluely stupid and far from reality. The writer ma be a die hard indian cricket fan yet he has shown his immaturity by being pesimIstic and crying over the milk which was never spilt. The fact remains india played out of their skins to ride on australian backs and full credit to our skipper who has transformed this relatively young Indian side into a winning unit. Hats off to Saurav Ganguly and his men and an advice for the writer be a little more reasonable and try to think positive and be optimistic unlike Bishen Singh Bedi.

My dear typical indian critic

hello my dear typical critic,
I would have hit back at you hard if I had the proof of what your expectations were, before Indians landed in Australia. But I as a common Indian cricket viewer will state aloud that 99 % of our desi janta were astound by the way our teams performance. I wont judge wether it was outstanding or depressing. But you now and I know that it was a real good .. sorry ... a great performance .. ofcourse ... scented with typical mistakes made by the most popular inconsistent team in the world. You in your article initially agree that katich and gillespie played the spin bowlers ( kartik , kumble and sachin) with great sense and skill but again state that sehwag would have been employed. I understand that this article defies its own logical statements and is a literal view of the people who try to play Indian captain (only after the match) by coming up with suggestions of the captain who fought hard with the selectors to include the man ( Kumble) into the touring 14 who gave us the glimmer of hope in this "drawn" test.
No more words for the frustrated lot. Lets hope that atleast now this Indian team will show some consitense. I will be happy but won't cry.

I am extremely happy about what our boys have done in Australia. I always have backed my team which has players who I beleive play next best only to GOD. They truely lived to that standard and gave Aussies a run for their money.
But having said that, if I ve read Ganguly correctly, the look in his eyes tells the thirst for victory. Having the passion like one possessed Ganguly would want nothing less than a victory. But all said and done I would from the bottom of my heart say great play Indians.
And we should spare a thought for Tendulkar. I just feel aghast people say that he plays for himself. Come on guys think broader. I havent seen anyone in the world love cricket and Indian team so much as this little magician. He has a heart of a child, so pure. How can we ever doubt his abilities, we are too small to judge him. And Bishan Singh Bedi should better shut up making his comments about our greatest sports icon.

Please don't complain too much about self
by mukunthan.p on Jan 07, 2004 07:56 PM

Praise our people and motivate them for what they have done. They have achieved a rare feast of making the aussies to have sleepless nights. On the other hand also agree that Aussies are the most toughest team in any continent which they have proved over decades. What can ganguly do if he dont have any one to back him up? If sachin and sehwag had gone for runs? If the aussies managed to settle down and take the match away? How will he be responsible for a team that has no bowlers and where has no room for his captaincy. The same has happened in the Final of the world cup. What will he do if his trusted partners are dropping him all alone to answer the selection board?
Let us give a break for this negative thoughts and blame the Indian selectors for not been able to find another Kapil Dev, another Srinath and another madan lal and you can add many to this. Let them go and work in the field to see who is really playing and who is not instead of blaming poor chaps who are doing their level best to keep you and me atleast smiling.

" Till last match it was sachin tendulkar, after everyone in the team has proved themselves, these critics have to find some fault with the Indian cricket team and hence this article "can we have little more imagination".

I would suggest the cricket lovers that "Pay no attention to these critics". Also i would like to reiterate that "Nowhere in the world statue has ever been erected for Critics"

Parthiv Patel let us down
by Nana on Jan 07, 2004 07:15 PM  | Hide replies

Honestly whatever may be the discussion going on with Ganguly's pathetic captaincy etc, I feel Mr Patel has more than 50% share in letting us down. Hey who cares if that guy has amazing potential and is a investment for future Indian cricket. First innings he missed 2 crucial stumping result is Aussies added 125 extra runs. Worst is when he missed regulation stumping in the second innings of Ponting. This is a pathetic show by any wicketkeeper. Let him be 10 years or 40 years who the hell cares about age. This is international cricket and keeper has to be of certain standard which Parthiv is not at this stage of his career. Indians are emotional and will always overlook this fact I am sure.I think along with Ganuly's bad captaincy this kids mistake cost us the draw..

Not Again Please !!!!
by Amol Raiker on Jan 07, 2004 06:32 PM

Its a public appeal to all Indians... Plz. be with the team.... whatever the situation is..... simply always.... afterall they make us enjoy and feel proud to be an Indian.
Ofcourse if you are playing against World Champions..even if you loose.... you have done great job. And here just a couple of bad sessions show the result 1-1 but indeed everybody knows that this Indian team has given SLEEPLESS NIGHTS to the AUSTRALIANS for almost a month now...
And the BOTTOMLINE : BORDER-GAVASKAR TROPHY IS STILL OURS AND THAT's what COUNTS!!!!!
Pls be mature enough to judge the performances...
Anyways.. the author of this coloumn seems to have lack of knowledge regarding CRICKET.

Job Well Done
by Karan on Jan 07, 2004 06:29 PM

i wonder how a website like rediff can allow such awful, unrealistic, and pathetic articles on their website and i m sure that rediff reputation will also go down with such articles which are making fools of those people who sees the truth from other eyes instead of using their own brain. what more u want from a team which lifted the trophy abroad. Human wants are endless no doubt about that. i realy appreciate Ganguly for what he did for Indian cricket and let me remind u it was Ganguly only in First test who scored the first century and set up a stage for indians for rest of the series. i really pitty on indian players who have fans like you who tries their best to find out unreal negatives instead of the true positives.

Article of a VERY BAD TASTE !!!!
by Anupam on Jan 07, 2004 06:13 PM

Rediff should be more cautious before printing this kind of stuff. This kind of thing will, for sure, not add up to their popularity.
Mr. Pai, I was really surprised to read such an article. Just as someone said the armchair experts are coming out from beneath. I think that's just the right way to describe you, as what one can judge by reading this article. What India has done is great enough to make us proud. The Indian team has played really great cricket. Yes it can be said that they could have played a little better and that could have won us the series. But there is always a room for improvement, and we hope Team India (AND NOT ONLY SOURAV GANGULY !!) will improve upon their flaws, for sure. But that does not, at all, understate the facts what they have done in Australia. We are proud of them AND SOURAV GANGULY. HE IS PROBABLY THE BEST CAPTAIN OF OUR COUNTRY and we should give him the due respect he deserves.
It is very sad to read such an article which can only propagate ciniscism and negative feelings among the readers.

Can we expect a little respect for India's captain??
by soham dutta on Jan 07, 2004 05:52 PM

Hi Mr. Pai.It was nice to discover another Ganguly hater, after all we were getting quite bored with only an ex spinner's comments for too long.I think they would love you at the "Ganguly-hate club".What is it?Are you scribes paid extra money for writing words against Ganguly?Let me remind you that this series wouldnt have gone the same way had Ganguly not scored a gutsy 144 in GABBA.With people like you in our country, our newspapers and internet portals dont need to publish artcles from Shane Warne warning of 'chin music' and stuffs. It is said that our players are not reading Australian newspapers on tour,I wonder whether they have also given up reading articles posted from India as well!!
