Whatever Ganguly said, it was a pathetic perormance by the Indian batsmenand their arrogance and low opinion of Bangla team was evident, specially after the top crumbled. The way Dhoni, Agarkar and Zaheer got out proved their irresponsibility and mindlessness in a crisis. No wonder this team always loses against teams like the Aussies, who excel under pressure. Thats the difference between champions and also-rans.
It was a shameful display of inept batting and worse thinking.
The man who was responsible to India's *better* showing in Australia's One-day series and the final One-day in Pakistan had been dropped from the team. Had Laxman been in the team, I am sure India could have pulled off the victory over Bangladesh, but I guess nothing he ever does will ever satisfy the selection committee. Every time India loses or does badly, people seem to want to blame him rather than any other *star* in the team.
Australia or Pakistan are like the mythological danav in Mahabharata. They get half of their opponent's strength (there by doubling their power) in a duel. Where as India play like the opponent. They never over throw their opponents with their might. They play with as much power as their opponents (and mostly less than that). Against Bangladesh, they played as though they are the Bangladesh team.
Yet gain, the lack of spine of the much vaunted and acclaimed Indian batting line-up whie chasing a target has been demonstrated. This team just doesn't have the capability to chase a total - however small it may be and whatever the bowling standard of the opposition may be.
None of the batsmen display the confidence or the commitment that is needed to chase a target. That remains the Achilles heel of Indian cricket and it is a big surprise that Mr Wright has not found an answer to this most chronic problem that Indian cricket faces.
