Those some good and sensible comments from Azhar. He's is infact the most experienced player and still the best Indian Captain till date. His comments about what the team strategy in Australia should be is right.

Keep giving these valuable tips
by Meraj Ahmed on Nov 20, 2003 01:13 PM

Indeed, the valuable advise of Azhar could do a lot of good if followed in the right spirit and perspective. Nothing is going to happen just by staying on the wicket. Get runs before the strong Australian attack gets you should always be there in the minds of batsmen to get to a respectable total.

Nowadays, when anybody and everybody who has played 10 first class matches is there on the TV, Radio and Talk Shows, commenting loudly on cricket as a specialist, It is a pity that a man who served Indian cricket for 17 long years, played 99 tests and 33 one dayers is confined to the four walls.

Nobody, just nobody can survice in international cricket for these many years without playing honestly or without lot of passion and pride in representating the counrty, giving it's 100 percent. Azhar has indeed brought many laurels and pround moment to the country. We owe him to owner him and treat him properly.

I agree with azza

He is particularly right about the opening batsmen. In fact it would be a good idea to ask Rahul Dravid to open the batting with Virendra Sewhag.one down-vvs,two down-sachin,then saurav,Yuvraj at6,deepdas at7 and the 4bowlers.Rahul should open because he is technically best equipped, otherwise anyway he would come at 10 for1 and Sachin would come at 15 for 2.
This has always been the story in Australia.

Azhar : On batting & fielding please
by spc on Nov 20, 2003 12:39 PM

Please Azhar we will love to hear you say about batting and also fielding-like the current Indian batsmen and how you rate them. I was, am and will always remain a great fan of your battting and u r definitely India's all time greatest fielder.

Please do not give much advice on overseas tour. Your record as an overseas captain is pathetic. Not a single victory outside the subcontinent. India was routed 0-4 down under, with you as skipper.

Azhar is right
by hakkeem on Nov 20, 2003 12:38 PM

Azhar is obsolutely right on how our guys
have to be performed in Australia
no doubt it will be like meeting the lions at its den

the players can have their ears to the man who lead our country to many victories

As he rightly pointed out our guys will miss Srinath
and one cannot hide his curiosity to know how will Sourav use Kumble
The seamers will learn alot from this tour and one can expect a positive result from Irfan who adjudged as the best bowler in the recently concluded asia U-19 cup
let's pray for our guys' success with the hope that they will put up brave fight.
