Dhaka tournament

I think this is the ideal opportunity to improve our teams' reserve strength...Let some new faces have a good chance to prove themselves,Though,I do hope Ganguly will be available to lead the team.....we should not lose our fighting spirit.

Good Decision

No Problem. After Hectic schedule Senior Players should take rest for some time. Give Younger player a chance to prove themselves. How many times India will depend on star batsman, sachin. Now it is high time to prove by young talent.

Hi,
Not Necesaarily Ganguly should lead the site .Kaif or Yuvaraj can lead the side,as they have lot of potiential still to prove to the team .
as this can be a good chance to predict the future captain .Rahul Dravid sure is not a good captain.

Regards,
Rangarajan

Its really Good
by Sree on Apr 01, 2003 02:30 PM

This is really good...Not only for the senior players and also for the youngsters... We need very good replacements for the seniors. We need to train the replacements well. When Shane Warne was missed, Hogg grabbed the oppertunity and Bichel replaced Gilispe. They had very good replacements in hand. We also need to be in such position. At any circumstances we should not miss any one. There should be some one who is really good enough to replace any one. This will force the current player not to relax and perform very well all the times. Lets hope for the best to happen.

by sarath on Apr 01, 2003 10:27 AM  | Hide replies

I personally request to give rest for the senior players and let the juniors get an opportunity to prove themselves and let the difference can be seen and I think this is a best chance for shewag, kaif, yuvaraj, parthiv, agarkar, etc to show their talent.

yours,
sarath.

Here comes another eternal cribber.

First, they played the benefit match in Mumbai not in Pune. Second, it was a benefit match for a hospital with minimal monetary benefit for the cricketers themselves. Certainly the match would carry much less monetarily as compared to what they would get from the Bangladesh Tour. So I consider them playing inspite of injuries and disappointment of losing the World cup as a great gesture.

Look at the Aussies??? What? You are comparing the West Indies tour with this Bangladesh trip. And do the Aussies play as much cricket as the Indians do. C'mon man, they are humans. They need rest as well as some time with their family.

This also gives us a nice opportunity to get a peek in at the newer breed. Avishkar Salvi and the opener Gambhir have done well in the Caribbean with the India A team.

Sir,

Kumble is taking a well deserved rest after the world cup .... poor chap had to sit on a chair & watch all of India's matches. I am sure he must be very tired. God bless the poor OLD mans aching muscles.

Greed in Limelight
by Vineeth on Mar 31, 2003 06:29 PM

What I cant understand is How Greedy a Board can Get!
The World Cup just got over and the players who performed so well deserved a break. Maybe the board was expecting the 2m$ cheq and now that they dont have it, they just want to compensate somehow?

Opportunity

I think senior players should be given rest. As it is time to give opportunity to the younger guys. As you have already seen the performance of younger guys during the world cup. It was amazing.

K P SRIKANTH
indian team
by K P SRIKANTH on Mar 31, 2003 06:22 PM

The Senior players should definitely be rested and the selectors should try to rope in fresh blood. The Aussies have strong back up team and hence did not miss the services of Steve Waugh, Gillespie and Shane Warne. Similarly India should try to rope in more players and should always be on the look out for more talent and thereby get more options. Drained players will not last long. The team will be the ultimate loser.
