You are one of the classical example of 'one being shooting star'. I have used this phrase in a very positive way. I strongly feel that you were a batsman of a quality better than Sachin. The only difference is that Sachin could keep his head above his shoulder very firmly whereas you could not.
Honestly speaking, I still feel that you can create a run riot if the selectors gives a chance to you. I wish that we again see Vinod at his devastaing best.

i am no sentimental fool that i am recommending that kambli must get another chance. it is a pity that such a gifted player like him is continually neglected by the selectors. as regards sachin reaching his peak, well, look at the performance of graeme smith in his 15-odd test matches and then you will be able to see things in the right perspective. sachin will never reach his peak ability in test matches - because he does not have the determination to bat for 2 days in a row. if he did, then we'd see perhaps 400 runs from his bat in every test innings. fact is that sachin is a highly overrated test player. he is a great one-day player, but an above avg test player, which is a shame for the ability he possesses. lesser men like graham gooch have higher scores.
Kambli does deserve a place in the Indian team.If the selectors are not sure of his potential they can try him out in the India A team.Give him a cahnce and he will surely excel.Afterall it was Kambli who first got over Shane Warne,no one will forget the sight of Kambli hitting Warne straight over his head.It was only after that Sidhu and Sachin followed suit.If the selectors do not give him chance now it will be late and they would have wasted a great player from our country
I sincerely wish to see Vinod in the Indian team and it's been an un-fulfilled aspiration of most cricket followers in India and definitely all in Mumbai, to see him and Sachin bat together and show what they are cabable of. So dear Vinod, please concentrate hard on this seasons matches and 'perform'...
