MIGHTY SACHIN !
by EKANATH DESHPANDE on Jan 02, 2004 06:40 AM

What a hidden might! had I said after the Adelaide Oval Victory. It was a DAVID Vs G..And I opined that the days are over of the fashion saying Sachin is the Main axis1
Sachin is part and parcel of the impregnated Indian team full of explosive gunpowder.
It will be folly to under estimate or under rate Sachin.Allen Border's judgement seems matured of Sachin's strategies.Jawagal Srinath has cautioned never to write off Sachin. And no doubt Sachin's position among the tops justifies his tactics!

Heart Warming!!!
by Madhan Krishnaswamy on Jan 01, 2004 02:02 AM

Alan B's comments on Sachin has been Heart-Warming!, possibly only to Sachin T!
It is not going to cut any ice with the fans of Indian cricket!
Sachin is the World's Best Batsmen!, no doubt about that, but we the fans of Indian Cricket need Sachin T, the match winner! and not Sachin T, the World Record holder!
Verdict-You don't need to have Match Practice at International levels to regain form! Swap Sachin T with someone in form from the India A team!
I am very certain that Alan B would not have been this sympathetic to Ricky P or Mathew H in a similar situation!
As far as Sydney is concerned, since we now know that India is now, the one team that Australia fear the most, Sydney will have the two final nails in the coffin, in the form of Murali K and Anil K.
At the end of the series Australia will be well & truly dethroned!!!
I wish the third team in the tr-series was Pakistan or S.Africa, this will mean a tri-series final in Australia without Australia!!!...that would be fun!!!

The very fact that everyone is talking about Tendulkar's form when he has failed to perform upto his own high standards for only 5-6 innings is ample proof to demonstrate the grateness of the man.
Leave him alone guyz, he is bound to rise like an emperor and just 2-3 hours in the middle is all he needs to satiate the hunger of all of us.
Although the outcome of a match does matter, but when it comes to watching Tendulkar bat, everything else takes a backstage. The sheer joy and the aeshtetic beauty that one derives from seeing him bat reduces everything else to negligible proportions. Who can forget his gems, the gorgeous 169 at Cape town when India were 58-5,the 136 on the last day pitch at Chennai against the Pakis, or the 118 at Melboune in the last series(He was given the Man of the Match even though India lost the match by an innings). Even the 37 and 44 he has made in this series were more awe inspiring than the 2 double tons of Ricky Ponting. Who cares who wins or loses, 2-3 hours of seeing Tendulkar bat is enough value for money.Isn't it????

Tendulkar Down - yeah you said it right..
by Prasad M on Jan 01, 2004 12:01 AM

Tendulkar is Down.. that sounds unimaginable, but hey he is human too..

I think if you see his recent track record in the last couple of yeras he is really not among runs on foreign tracks.. Except on couple of occasions..

The fact that he din't come out to play after the fall of 2nd wicket on 3rd day (Melbourne Test) gives ample of eveidence to his current form.. (Hey I totally agree with that decision and it was wise too.)

For the last test (Sydney) keeping in mind the teams benefit he should come at 4 down ( bat # 6), b'cos Laxman is batting far better than him, and it is putting extra pressure on him, as he is the last recognised batsman, and making him to take extra risks & go into shell etc..

Here is my batting order for the last test:
1), Shewag
2), Chopra
3), Dravid
4), Laxman
5), Ganguly / Tendulkar
6), Ganguly / Tendulkar..
