captain's knock

I always love watching Ganguly. He is the the best lefthanded batsman in the world today. What a classic knock he played today. The way in which he turned the CHIN MUSIC to GROUND MUSIC for the Aussies hearing their own running steps all along the ground is stupendous.Steve ,more in store from the prince of Calcutta .Don't take it easy.

Incredible Ganguly ! When the going gets tough, the tough get going ! Howzzat ?
by Dr. Cajetan Coelho on Dec 07, 2003 04:43 PM

Congratulations to skipper Saurav Ganguly for leading Team India from the front. It has been a fantastic team effort so far and a positive signal for the rest of the tour Down Under. Supported by the wiry Ajit Agarkar, our Shrirampur boy Zaheer Khan carried out the demolition work earlier. Saurav and Laxman have sent further warnings in the Australian camp. Shewag, Chopra and Patel have already adjusted to the Australian diet. The Aussies know well that there are things yet to come from Sachin, Dravid, Harbhajan, Kumble and the inform left hander Sadagopan Ramesh. What a great century by Saurav Ganguly! We are proud of him. Good luck and success to John Wright and the think tank. Thanks to Rediff's Faisal Shariff for writing such a creative and constructive piece at the end of an eventful fourth day's play.

Now where r the Intelligent Ones????
by Katarthi on Dec 07, 2003 04:11 PM

Hello...where r u guys? Somedays back who were drawing swords aginst the very selection of Sourav in the playing 14, let go as Captain. Where r u?
This is amazing how a person always ill-treated and misunderstood by the masses of India always rise again from the ashes like a Phoenix bird. Hats off to you Sourav, 'cause u have proved again "When the going gets tough, the tough gets going".

However, I wonder, what is now in store for u from our so called intelligent ones, may be a comment like this:
" He scored a century against a depleted bowling attack of Australia" ??? C'mon all cricket lovers, let us give the Captain his due, a thundering applause. Hope that will shut the mouth of those intelligent guys.

A Captain's innings
by G Mookerjee on Dec 07, 2003 03:50 PM

It was a captains innings and Saurav Ganguly definitely let his bat do the talking
in this case.It was also a match saver, since the odds were in favour of the Aussies to trigger off a procession of the Indian batsmen at that stage towards the pavilion and then enforce the follow on.And hats off to Ajit Agarkar in responding so sportingly to the crowd after opening his account for the first time in six matches on Australian soil.

kudos to ganguly & co
by anoopsonny on Dec 07, 2003 03:19 PM

wow!! that was some perfomance from indian batsmen especially ganguly and laxman proving once again that when it comes to flair and talent ,indian batsmen are right up there.what we need is more consistency and then our dream of an overseas victory is not far behind.also cant undermine the imporatnce of the knocks played by sehwag and chopra.kudos to the indian team and hopefully they will continue the good work throughout the series.

Brilliant
by S.L.Nagarjun on Dec 07, 2003 03:17 PM

It seems like the skipper as said few months ago that he wants to pound Australia in Australia seems to have started according to his liking. But we cannot say anything as this test is heading towards a draw and still 3 tests are remaining with Lee and Mcgrath coming back as the series progresses.Well they are doing well so for in the match and hope they continue this performance as the tour progresses.
