Absolutely Prem couldn't be more right! Saurav works hard except for that period of self-denial! Or else he couldn't have come out for wilderness for four years and hit a century on debut. Any other cricketer would have given up after 2 years!
I am sure he will be a better batsman after his stint with Greg Chappell!
You Aussies, we are coming at you!!

The begal tiger, the best indian captain!
by mohak on Aug 22, 2003 07:21 AM

Now wut ganguly is doing is absolutely radical, yet very beneficial for himself and the whole indian team! It takes a man with guts to go up to a foreigner cricket great for advice. His critics might call this move a shameful one, cuz he's going to an australian former cricketer, but according to me it doesn't matter as long as u bring the trophy back home. he is obviously the best captain india ever had, n arguably one of the best left hander. if he improves his skills on short pitch deliveries, i m sure he can surpass ANYTHING! The dashing left hander is going through a transformation from bengal tiger to THE BENGAL LION! ROCk on ganguly beat the australians, we are all expecting ur towering sixes to shut their mouth once and for all!

Should we tour Pakistan .........
by KD on Aug 21, 2003 10:03 PM

We should look at the issue from a purely professional manner. This is the best time to tour pakistan and improve our record against them. The iron is hot, their team is down in the pits with new faces that have hardly seen international cricket. We are bound to be dominant at this stage. Cricket History looks at win/loss ratios, not the stage at which Pakistan lost its games.
I wouldnt agree with the theory that there is a security concern at this stage since we have a 'thaw'. This is the best time for even the international side to visit Pakistan, not just India 'A'.

Prem Panicker is learning now!!!!!
by isskiran on Aug 21, 2003 09:28 PM

This is the first time, I am reading an article of prem panicker appreciating saurav ganguly. This itself is a good sign. I have never seen him appreciaitng him once before. Maybe the holiday did good to him and to indian cricket. I am an avid reader of prem's articles for the past 2 years and I shd say that he is now moving in the right direction.

Also first time, he dared to criticise sachin where it was considered to be a crime criticising him as he was considered to be a demi god. Neither saurav is my own nor sachin is my enemy. All I ask prem is to be a good critic..thats all. And he has done that this time. Keep it up prem.

Regards

Kiran

agree 80% , disagree 20%

Now I'm not trying to be die-hard fan here but I don't understand why is media making out big fuss about it?Let me give you some reasons why I believe Sachin didn't commit crime.
1. He is NOT god. Any normal guy would have asked for tax examption if he was also given such a gift.As far as the concept of "gift", its not gift its prize for crossing Bradman's score. Its been done in the past for couple of players so then why such a brouhaha over this piece?
2. Most of us participating here can atleast donate 100 Rs (just 100) to some welfare every month. So how many of us are doing it?And how many of normal ppl in true sence are paying taxes fully? Forget about tax ppl don't even get bill for their mobile to get it cheap and then here we are advising Saching that he should pay tax because he "can afford"!
3. If there at all is any fault its of the government and not of Sachin..he merely asked for the examption and asking out is not a crime.
In this country no matter how much you contribute for the game&nation the next day ppl will forget it. I pity for Sachin.Someone has said it true "Indians live in the past".But till he becomes past people will not hesitate throwing bricks at him
