No more debate on ''who is better'' because...........
by Anurag Rathore on Jun 08, 2009 02:41 PM

After French Open title, Sampras calls Federer 'the greatest ever'

"What he's done over the past five years has never, ever been done — and probably will never, ever happen again," Sampras said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "Regardless if he won there or not, he goes down as the greatest ever. This just confirms it."

"I'm obviously happy for Roger," Sampras said. "If there's anyone that deserves it, it's Roger. He's come so close."

"He just is a great, great player that is a credit to the sport and is a positive influence for young kids and just tennis in general," Sampras said. "It looks pretty tough to beat now with 14 majors, and I'm sure he's going to go on and win a lot more."

sampras
by bango tango on Jun 08, 2009 02:41 PM

Wonder why Sampras had so much trouble with Dutchmen?krajicek, haarhuis, eltingth ....

Wiuthout too much stereotyping, I've noticed Dutch players tend to be quit tall- that helps make the serve come down at an angle which can give all sorts of problems- and most of them were pretty good net players with big wingspans, so it was difficult for Pete to make the passing shots.

Somebody please defeat Nadal and I will win
by Narakasur on Jun 08, 2009 02:26 PM  | Hide replies

The message Roger sends out these days is that "somebody please defeat Nadal so that I can win the grand slams". When it comes to playing opposite Nadal, he seems to lose the match mentally even before it starts. he might be a great player but his record against Nadal doesnt say that he is the greatest.

Now situation is different. Nadal is saying please give me Federer because I can only beat him. Save me from Murray, Soldering, Djokovic etc.

so what.... he conquered the one(Soderling) who conquered Nadal... He is the best... He proved in Madrid defeating Nadal... Federer will get his mental block off and defeat Nadal and rewrite the history of defeats against Nadal..

He is a great player but I wouldnt call him the greatest unless he can come back and defeat Nadal in a Grand Slam.
Nadal is just 23 and who knows what he can achieve by the time he ends his career. At 23, he has more GS wins than Roger had at 23.

i doubt wdr nadal can play for more years ....coz his physical play takes a toll on his body ...( he might miss Wimbledon) ..
n thats y I say FEDEX is the best..coz playing 756 consecutive matches without retiring from a match , is not a joke....n that too in modern day tennis ...even Real GOD won't dream to break this record..

Yes that is a great feat but then that alone doesnt make you great. What defines your career finally is how many matches, grand slams you won and how long you were number one in the rankings. So we cannot definitely say unless they both have finished their careers.

See you cant see future a long way... We shud talk about wats happening now... Borg too had 11 slams when he was 26... But unfortunately he retired early in his career... Nadal is playing with full pace... Hunger for victory and making history in a hurry... But as far a future is concerned... We cant predict anything... Injury may even prevent him playing tennis in future... But Federer has already proved he is one of the greatest all time..

Please do not forget that Federer had convincingly beaten Nadal at the Madrid Masters tournamanet a fortnight ago.
I can bet that Fed Express will regain the Number one Ranking before the end of the year after winning both the remaining slams.

Heloo MIss/Mr ABC of tennis..every body wants to speak of Madrid win..even though Rafa played a horrible (time wise) match against Djokovic and the next day against federer..Still Rafa gave a fight (4-6, 4-6) and u ppl think its a easy win!!get a life baby/boy!!
Nadal handed Federer's worst ever loss (that too in GS) (6-1 6-3 6-0)..I m nothing against Roger (greatest Player), but plz don't take anything away from Rafa (Gr8 Player)!!

yes,i do agree roger had a mental block against nadal. The same agassi had against sampras, sampras had against kuerton, roddich has about rogerBut roger has overcome that after conquering the french open.If roger had met nadal in 4 consectuive US open finals, the story would have been different.Nadal never croossed the 4th round of US open except 2008(semi final). If nadal can reach US open final atleast this year,Then we can clearly see the end of nadal

3 records of Federer
by bango tango on Jun 08, 2009 02:18 PM  | Hide replies

These 3 records of ROGER GOD FEDERER can't be broken for next billion years..
1.Consecutive 20 slam SF's
2.90-4 win-loss in a calendar year
3. consecutive 756 matches without retiring from a match ....that too in modern day tennis ...

some Sampras fan says hez the best ...but i doubt wdr sampras could ve won 14 slams these days....coz during his time , all players were skillful , but not physically power players...
n that too he alwys used to vomit in 5 set matches ( remember the match wd Corretja or Courier)...if sampra used to play in the era of ivanisevic , then Federer played in the era of Roddick/JKarlovic )....
( fyi , Roddick holds the record for fastets serve . Karlovic have the record of hiiting highest no. of aces in a match , that too on slow clay court . Also, Karlovic has the record of hitting more aces in avg. in terms of per set. ...

ROGER "THE GOD" FEDERER IS THE BEST ...

At 23 Nadal has more wins than Roger at 23.

Also Sampras - Haarhuis, is not a proper comparison. They never met in Grand Slam finals. Federer and Nadal have played 20 matches between then and Nadal leads 13-7. So it does mean that he is a better player.

Mate u cant judge the greatness of the player based on playing against one opponent... Of course Fedex had mental block against Nadal... But it doesn't mean that he failed totally... He will surely defeat Nadal in future...
