Who deserves to be India's President

None of the present candidates are good enough to be India's president.

Its quite poor situation where all political parties are playing the cast card for the highest position that indicates their narrow mindedness Shame on them. Can't these things can be decided on the caliber not on the basis of cast colour and creed.

The author would have similar questions about past and present president also. Unfortunately we have a list of presidents who never could come out of their political affiliations. The Interests of Nation had been of least priority for them over the political interests.

President is a above of PM and he has much power to look in to every matter, but he could not because he has elected by ruling party and has to obey their order whether it in favour of Indian citizens or only ruling party favour. therefore it is advised to contest a good and discipline any one of three army chiefs. here who is contesting only the favour of ruling govt. he has to sign wherever pencil tick marked without reading. Crores of money is spending for President Staff and maintenance but result is nil as he has rubber stamp. Any way we hope incoming new president may use his own brain instead of rubber stamp. Some people are murmuring he is a RSS man and he will obey their own orders and not govt. of India. Wait and time will tell every one after election of new president.

@ Rakesh Dandekar : In theory, the President is above the Prime Minister and the Constitution states that the Prime Minister enjoys his office at the pleasure of the President. It is the biggest untruth, if one can say so. The President is BOUND to operate in conformity with the "advice of the Council of Ministers, headed by the Prime Minister". So all this is a big humbug. Which is why Mrs Indira Gandhi wanted rubber stamp presidents in the first place.
