Japan have ability to have build 1000 nuclear station within month. don't worry.
These Morons where hell-bent to USA for Nuclear deal and buying second hand plants from USA and france, can we imagine if an earthquake strikes or a Tsunami and what would happen to our Nuclear plants? India must spare the resources for renewable energy rather than nuclear energy.

Hello Hiral Renewable resources though good for environment has its limitations. Eg. You do not get it round the clock or you dont get it round the year or it is prohibitively costly. So the need is to have a good mix of all technologies base load power plants (Coal based), which supplements renewables and peaking plants (Like Gas Engines) which takes care of peaking loads (morning and evening). Nuclear plants though having issues as presented in the above incident has its benifit that it is normally non polluting with virtually zero carbon emission. However it stands to reason whether for our country , where a "chalta hai" attitude runs deep in our veins, we would be able to manage these power plants in a safe manner. Dennis

I totally agree with Hiral Joshi. So what if u don't get it round the clock. we have to make use of what is available. ours climate has HUGE solar steam generation potential but most of our scientists and engineers are sleeping bec there are no kickbacks like in nuclear, petroleum etc

Everybody knows you dont get energy round to clock from renewable sources and that is why R&D is needed in energy storage solutions. Nuclear plants may have Zero carbon emission but carbon is not the only thing that damages the environment, there are hundreds of other things. Managing power plants in safe manner doesnt make them safer against large earthquakes or Tsunami and that is what I wanted to highlight, for few hundred Megawatts when we put a Nuclear Plant we are risking a catastrophe.

All countries have problems . As per Initial TV Report Natural disaster has caused loss of 200 lakh crores approx. in Japan . In our Country A Raja 176 lakh crore & our politicians have created much more loss to nation . Equivalent to many disasters . Hence Fight Corruption .
SOME TIMES IT LURKS IN MIND THAT EXCEE ECONOMICAL AND SCIENTIFIC DEVELOPMENTS BRING NATURAL CALAMITIES. WE ARE SPEECHLESS BEFORE NATURE. WE SHOULD THINK 100 TIMES BEFORE COMMENCING ANY DEVELOPMENT WHICH MAY NOT CAUSE OR HARM NATURE IN ANY WAY. GOD PLEASE GIVE JAPANESE PEOPLE ENOUGH STRENGTH TO OVERCOME THE PRESENT CALAMITY.

Nuclear Reactors from Areva of France is an untested one any where in the world and Areva is caught in legal tangle with Finland on Suppliers liabilty clause. So, Mr. Chavan why put Jaitapur in jeopardy as you are no more clean and plenty of Controversies surround you.

Where to shift it. How about near Marine drive!!!!. Bribes have already changed hands...so they (Politicians ofcourse) will work even faster to remove all hurdles.
