Sue the railways for any death
by Ramesh Dodani on Jul 13, 2011 11:31 AM  | Hide replies

The only way is to sue the railways for any life that is lost in accident - once they pay then wil they improve -
In west millions are paid in way of compensation by government & private sector

Railways or Indin government will not value our life it is indians themselves who have value their lifes

Instead of giving quota to grandsons of SC/ST beneficiaries, 100% job quota must be given by govt. who becomes alone or without any source of income after such incidences.

An alternative to helicopters
by Prasenjit Chakravorty on Jul 13, 2011 11:28 AM  | Hide replies

The expert appeared fixated on helicopters. Let me share with this eminent personality that the average helicopter carries 2 to 6 lying casualties. For a train carrying 72 passengers per coach, this will achieve very little. Besides helicopters cannot fly in bad weather, and most of the Indian fleet cannot fly at night.
An alternative to this, for providing timely medical aid to accident victims could be to make the railways set up emergency medical aid posts every 20 kms on all routes, on railway land, adjoining the railway tracks. This will provide the following advantages:
1. They can provide employment to so many trained doctors and nurses.
2. They can provide comprehensive health coverage to rural Indians, who have to travel for miles to receive medical attention.
3. And last but not least, they can attend speedily to any such railway mishaps, saving precious lives.

Why only railways?? Every govt dept is corrupt to the core providing shoddy service at the expense of tax payers money.
As the saying goes "In a democracy ppl get the govt that they deserve." This is so true in Indian context. I feel we Indians deserve the govt that we have for our chalta hai attitude, corrupt practices and host of other problems that suffocate our society.

Its no wonder that educated and skilled ppl go in search of greener pastures. Nobody wanna waste their lives amidst the chaotic, corrupt and inefficient society.

learn to think together.
by bihari babu on Jul 13, 2011 11:04 AM  | Hide replies

Most important factor that ruin india's power is disunity. people never think and act together. always blaming others, trying to be boss himself.
thats why we are not able to build powerful infrastucture. whole energy and attention is devided. thats why its crucial to have many leaders who can generate agreement quickly so we can keep engaged in action, not on talks. you cant build infrastructure like china by spending time on talks and talks.

bihari babu: do not compare India with china.
The root cause of all probs in India is its diversity. u cannot have a consensus on anything when u have such diverse set of ppl with differing views on everything under the sun.

No value for ordinary human lives
by swami pudipeddi on Jul 13, 2011 11:04 AM

It is true that there is no value to ordinary human lives in India. Any system planned is only for the benefit of a few luck ones.If one wants to travel a lot of planning is required to have a reserved ticket well in advance say 90 days. But if a VIP wants to travel there is a VIP quota in each and every train and it is released just before the departure of the train. There are smart staff members who can make a fortune when the quota remain not filled or vacancies are there. In 1960s there used to be a conductor to each 3 tier/2 tier coach which used to be a very safe measure for long distance travelers and the berth in 3 tier used to be free to those who travel 800 KMs and more. After introducing several trains with more reserved compartments this system continued for some time later they removed several conductor and entrusting to a few conductors each one verifying the ticket with chart for five or six coaches. This is resulting in some antisocial elements traveling in the coaches and scaring the passengers. Some people consume alcoholic drinks, some play cards and some smoke and also put the music and songs in their mobiles in high pitch and in AC compartments those who are having any health problems like hyper tension suffer much. The number of track inspectors also must have been reduced to save some money on the salaries resulting in avoidable accidents and consequently loss of human lives. More train running with chair car sitting at frequent intervals are needed

There are so many Rail Accidents, scores of people die, hundreds handicapped, thousands injured. Our politicians are having a long list of excuses for inaction. KAASH, One or Two Ministers are killed in Rail Accidents. I pray Almightly to do this to happen. The countrymen will see miraculous results in just one fortnight.
