Real India
by sreejit steve on Jun 23, 2010 01:40 PM  | Hide replies

Wonder why Indians think India is some unrecognized superpower..With so much poverty, corruption and mediocrity around, we are one of the countries at the bottom rung of the world..We get ecstatic when our actors get bit roles in Hollywood or when we get one bronze medal in Olympics, thinking we have arrived..Our politicians talk of making Mumbai Shanghai of India, when actually it resembles a huge garbage dump..No one thinks highly of India...China and Brazil get more respect among emerging economies..When it comes to policy, we have no stand in world politics..USA treats us like a pawn and we r happy to play along..God, we have made this country hell

The backwardness is in indian minds for centuries!!! Once Sanskrit considered the language of wise now English replaced it and the mother tongue is always being undermined. Whenever the people of India recognisd the importance of their mother tongue whenever they start to feel proud of speaking in pure mother tongue then they will become aware of their real position in the world and begin to work for their motherland.

sreejit,
you are right there is section of media (and people) which belives that india is Unrecognised sperpower.... but I feel majority of us believe that we are a POTENTIAL SUPERPOWER....
which essentially means WE have THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME A SUPER P., IF......
the list is big but to sum it up I'll steal obama's campaign word... ie. change
if we CHANGE we can become a Superpower...
this is supported by many facts like the young work force, growing economy and a huge educated class.

if calling a potential S. brings positive energy... its good isnt it

The earliest written evidence for an Indo-Aryan language is found not in India, but in northern Syria in Hittite records regarding one of their neighbors, the Hurrian-speaking Mitanni. In a treaty with the Hittites, the king of Mitanni, after swearing by a series of Hurrian gods, swears by the gods Mitrašil, Uruvanaššil, Indara, and Našatianna, who correspond to the Vedic gods Mitra, Varuṇa, Indra, and Nāsatya

While women liberty is essential, I disagree that this alone makes a nation properous. In fact its the other way round. West is prosperous, so they have broadened their thinking and hence women too are reaping the fruits of that prosperity in the form of freedom and liberation. But why they are prosperous is bcos of a much smaller populatin in a much larger counrty like U.S. Hence they had plenty of resources to spend. Also their wealth creation model was dependent on technology and selling the byproducts of the same to the rest of the world. When all of this world is using Windows, Pentium, Ipod, no wonder why Gates is the richest, Apple is the biggest, and Intel a leader in M.processors. However compared to U.S, Europeans lead a much contented life bcos they care much more for environment rather than just business. So is the case with all these polar countries. Even in some African countries and some tribal sects in India, there is lot of women freedom, but still they are poor, bcos of economic reasons.

Dear happiness and prosperity are 2 different things. One is emotional, the other is economics. While for being happy(that is what God is about ), u may need women to be worshipped, for being properous u need to worship Lakshmi, wealth..!! And thats what the west does very well..

You can see many example. One is Afghanistan (No Freedom to women) and see the situation of this country. India, some freedom, some restriction, so we are at 45th position. European countries and America, absolute freedom and see how prosperous these countries are.

do you know what is the corruption index in these countries? it is the lowest. do you know how people get the support and security of the government. it is 92% support offered in safety and security clause. Now say how the money is funded by the Government to all the people. it is the same tax payers money. Indian companies swindle money so as to underpay the taxes. there among the companies the biggest tax payer is the Nokia which is the highest foreign exchange earner. there industrialist and politicians dont engage in hawala tactics and transferring dollars to swiss accounts in their relatives and pets names. u are right u cannot compare scandinavian countries with yourself. absolutely u cannot compare shit with honey until the day u are able to shit honey.

For half cooked indian like you can see India only thru eyes of prosperity. Indians are really happy. Recession didnt affect India at all. If at all affected, it was of those MNCs practicing cut throat competition. Indians will survive anywhere. Can anyone in the world can do it? The strenght of India is its pluralism, casts, diversity and cultural difference. Show me one country in this world surviving with such diversity

What is the meaning of recession? Here Indians dont get food to eat, while the West considers it recession if their unemployment rate rises to 15%..Mind you, unemployment in West means u can live off Government wages for the unemployed..and that is substantial enough to not just at, but also to go shopping!..I ve been there in the US so I know better..No one there dies hungry like here in India

I think you are one of those millions of Indians in denial..

Switzerland is the second one in happiness. and they are the source of un-happiness of many a nations as they are allowing all the black money to be stored in their banks. On this they earn interest and enjoy high standards of living. what a shame. okay if not they someone else may step in their boot but is this ethically right to enjoy happiness at expense of others, is it rue happiness ?

HOW CAN WE COMPARE AN ANT WITH AN ELEPHANT
by reddy sreenivas on Jun 23, 2010 01:11 PM  | Hide replies

The countries like India and China are elephants when compared with such a small nations like Finland which has a population of only 53 lakhs and area of 1.3 lakh sq kms. The Total population of Finland is equal to the population of a district in India and the total area is equal to an average state like Chattisgadh. The number of people in India who are spending happiest life with all amenities is much higher than in Finland. So such comparision is simply a foolish work.
