dude those days are less now...what i mean to say is now big corporates..which are no less than underworld like reliance..finance these film makers to make any movie. i think roney screwwala of UTV movies is somewhat sensible that he choses good scripts...but he should be careful of people like SLB who made guzaarish and has made losses
The real reason is the fragmented india, india is today more divided into the regions and the centric Hindi cinema has lost it's connect from the people of different geographies. Though hindi cinema was never inclusive of all geogprahies, but due to uneducated people this was never realized now with education every body realizes that there are only few comunities pushing their dirty agendaes through these mindless copies of west. so they watch more western movies than watching their ugly cousins. We all know that there is absolutely no representation of the communities such as ST/SC/OBC guys in the Film industry only punjabi and few brahmins in fim making business

I agree. I have now started judging a movie just by its name and trailer. Have also learnt a big lesson, never follow the reviews!!!!

waah narayanan....thats a million dollar quote...u have said so much in one line! well said.
Since Bollywood is giant industry , its film are watched across the India, and people who are watching these movies are not enough illiterate to understand the bilingual and also people are know more educated to spend money on the story not on stardom.
Any film must be worth dragging oneself during the weekend after a tough week, dolling up, driving through the menacing traffic, spending 100 bucks for petrol, spending money for parking and spending 200 bucks at theatre and after the movie, drive back through menacing traffic to home. Any of the big-budget movies that bombed worth it? NO. Any of the small budget movie worth the effort? NOT SURE.
Smart content (shd be worth the effort) Smart marketing (shd convince that it's worth the effort) is all it takes for a film to be a hit.
Sankar'a Robot is an example of what good film making can do. Each film of Sankar's is different. Bollywood has to be more creative and stop being so superficial. Dressing up actors in costly clothes and uses expensive sets alone won't work. Script is also important.

Robot is a great movie, infact a landmark..... they took big risk of 160 crores.... 2 years of time.... top actors top music.... more than everything Shankar who has 100% box office hit record on his 10 films.
All movie producers cannot do the same, but can try n give movies that makes some sense....
