This guy is ridiculous
by Prashant B on Jan 23, 2009 08:24 PM  | Hide replies

It is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Bhatta get ur brain checked. Its is not about india, it is not about indian poverty, it is about what happens in India. AND this is quite what happens in those slums, I agree that they have exaggerated few thing just to apease the firangi public but it is quite close to the truth. And Truth is always bitter, you like it or not!

You should have gone for Raaz instead if you found this so silly. And taken Mr. Big B as well.

It's just a movie after all.

What a crap Review
by Paresh Patel on Jan 23, 2009 08:12 PM

I watched this film and categorize this film with the movies like A Wednesday n DDLJ...This movie is a must watch. Far better then watching Karan Johar's movie where characters live in a luxurious flats in New york and commune throuch choppers.

This is a real India where poor kids keep begging around to destine no where!!! None of the well known director ventured to show the life this slum boys live...Jay ho Slum Boy crorepati!!!!

by Ash Ash on Jan 23, 2009 08:05 PM  | Hide replies

Sumit is irked coz' the film has ZERO Bengali contribution ! But the fact remains (in fact gets reinforced) that in India only things without a Bengali hand are mega successes !
God saved NANO !

Bhattacharya & His Chai adda
by Yoni Tantra on Jan 23, 2009 07:38 PM  | Hide replies

Slumdog millionaire is a movie dude! He has assumed the the movie would be a Documantary, and was disappointed to watch a tale told my a master storyteller... Blame is not on Bhattacharya, but on the guy, who or what initiated him to watch the movie. Even now it is not that late. May be you can go back and watch the movie again. It's a Movie. MOVIE OK? One small observation, Bhattacharya, next time you visit the beaches of Goa, try buying someting from illiterate gypsey girls selling tit-bits, like a sarong. The rolling of the 'ooo's in her mouth wile pronouncing sarong will put to shame most call centre wallas to shame....

The question is not of documentary. Movies shape public opinion especially in these cross culture types.

Sumit Vs world
by Meh on Jan 23, 2009 07:37 PM  | Hide replies

Sumit is either understands the movies very well or he doesnt know anything about movies. i would reaaly love to check his credentails.
The whole world has loved the movie and rate it as one of the best films in the world this year. Awards are pouring in, the last count was over 40 awards world wide (none from India ), it has been liked by critics across the world as well as won the GG awards and nominated for 10 categories for oscar. It is rated as 34th best movie ever on IMDB.

But i respect Sumits opinion as it is his personal opinion and he has that right

OSCAR BHI BIKTA HAI BHAI, REMEMBER BEAUTY PAGEANT..
by Sheikh Akber on Jan 23, 2009 07:33 PM

foreign studios have ventured in indian film industry they know money roll here in india is big, and to promote themselves they know where to pump in, so expects few more oscars and globe for india in coming years...thats called marketing strategy people, to get the non-hindi viewers attention and earn millions...infact it would be a pet pe laat for most of indian directors and indian film studios, we all know out of now where indian girls started winning beauty pageant, world, universe..here cosmetics companies like lakme, loreal wanted this to happen and they purchased the awards for india, they knewed india is a growing market for cosmetics and to promote product they need face and yes awards..now when the market is well covered no indian winning the pageant, same applied here..oscar for india..million rupees to hollywood studios...oscar bhi bikta hai bhai..and its evident...
