i do agree with you on most counts.. i did watch it like a typical masala movie.. and for a " masala movie' it was enjoyable... yea i don't think ti was ar's best score but he did deserve to win the globe for his lifetime work till now....
Its clearly outrageous. For once you should be able to appreciate this kind of films. Did you even get the film??? If you being sceptical about the english and how one has the accent, you should look back at those million of hindi movies (specially SRK ones) which has no reason at all in being superhero or dancing around the trees!!!
You should be glad that Danny Boyle has put Hindi Movies in the map...So stop lamenting and try to support the movie that has made INdia proud.

What is the problem with dancing around trees. That is an Indian genre. Why do you require to meet artificial Western standards?

Whats artificial is the dancing around the trees, seriously, who does that in real life! And if you life than then why dont you just watch the dance concerts, why waste your time on a story if you just want to see the dance. And please, do not insult Indian genre of movies by labeling it with 'Dancing around the trees'. have you seen any Satyajeet ray or Ritwik Ghatak movie? If not than please do, that actually is the Indian genre, and is revered all around the globe by critics as well as general viewers.
Film has many flaws. Its just the treatment which is different else we have many such film before in Bollywood. It looks it is made for US-UK audience.
Again proved...a big hype and marketing can make an average film look some what Gr8 in perception.
This movie was reviewed days ago, today like Bacchan even Bhattacharya may buckle in his assesment
The fact remains this is the most perverted White Man's movie making which denigrates India as one big Hindu hellhole. Poor Muslim boy subject to Hindu tyranny is the sole subliminal message of the film. Abusing Sri Rama in the form of a tiny little boy dressed up as him but they who bother...
You want to see a movie on real Indian poverty...watched the masterpieces by Satyajit Ray which I am sure 75% of the board's commentators HAVE NOT!

You have misunderstood the purpose of the movie. It has nothing to do with representing India's poverty or 'dirty underbelly' as someone has said. It has nothing to do with religious sentiments. It is a simple story of a poor boy who happens to be a Mumbai slum-dweller, his struggle and survival, his dreams n then his efforts and sheer desperation to make them come true (read Latika). It is a story of the triumph of human spirit, of love, of destiny, of the fact that if you are true, you could get lucky, it is a story believing in 'God is Great'. And acting, music, cinematography, editing, everything is superb. Or have you become too cynical to see and appreciate a good work of art?
The person who has reviewed the movie is perfect example of a ridicule and his fit to watch only masala movies typical bollywood style......... tell the guy to watch the movie agaib

It is quite similar, just better told, by someone who had a wider reach and hence some of our home stars got a wider platform of recognition like that maestro A R Rahman. Isn't it something to be proud of?And as Anil Kapoor has said, this could be the beginning of India's arrival on the World Cinema scene?!! Touchwood!

Why do you require recognition for this substandard film. Lagann was way better, so was Tare Zameen Par, so was Munnabhai II
Yes, I can only LOL at the reviews by rediff. We have one review with 5 stars and soon it is followed by another saying it as a masala film. There can be no better jokes online than these reviews by ridiculous rediff!!
