HR didnt give good musics for the past 4films and he is staying in the field with only one song AASIQ BANAYA... otherwise he would have stay at home...Dont compare rahman with anyone... Creativity is must in each and every field esp. in musics... Can you say which HR song has more creativity...
agreed a.r. rahman's songs sound mediocre in the beginning..but later they turn out to be masterpiece..however this album is truly bad..sorry to say..save for couple of songs...dil ka rishta and tu hi mera dost..these two songs are the best
..trust me, since i can get a.r.rahman's songs feel, well enough..Mastam is total crap, cudnt believe sonu nigam sang it.

because u cannot notice very fine nuances in his music the very first time u hear them. It's just like wine! The more u hear the more it grows!

The sooner u like something, the sooner u forget it... Rahman's songs are like building a relationship... they take time... once done, they are for keeps... the music stays is ur heart....

a great reply to a good question.Rahman's first film Roja is still thought of as a sought out album, his only work in malayalam(Yodha) has even children of todays generation singing and identifying them.Taal is already 10 years old and you are still talking about that.Just try the same with other music directors.I dont think you can figure out Himesh's or Anu Malik's first film just from your memory. And as a testimony of his genious he has won 21 fimfare awards for music in 16 years.

coz rahmans music will not sound like crap like other music dir's which will b lost in pan.. rahman's music will be extraordinary for special people and it will have layers of melancholy which will take time to be understood by layman..its not the case in all his albums. he has the knack of delivering his best for best film directors..keep that in mind.

music ahead of its time will never be appreciated instantly... and ARR is far ahead of the time.. he is a visionary.
As they say 'Dhoondthe reh javoge', we are still searchin and waitin for rehman's work same as dil se and taal... none of his own compositions can match these... lets see how this is, i havent heard it yet... But the 'ghai' factor in music too is notable... as yaadein - non rahman musical of ghai too was melodious... Rahman over the years hav disappointed by not makin it up to dil se or taal and he has this SUFI going all the way... indian classical is what indians would love more..

i can't undestand..why always some1 comparing about one artists works..wyhy should rahman deliver dil se or tal again? didn't he delivered them already? he then delivered lagaan, swadesh rang de basantiand still going on..every 1 of those became evergreen themselves..every1 of those has own quality to deliver..then why shud one compares rahmans taal or dil se with his other works? do u think lagaan is bad then them or rang de basanti ? how can even u think taht..even do u think taal and dil se can be comparable with each other? every piece of rahmans work has it's own quality..and i odnt think any artists work can be compare like that...a artists work can be judged by only it's own quality..can it tested it's own quality that he made for himself..think of that..

Are you kidding you idiot? What about Lagaan, Rang de basanthi and JTYJN. I wont even talk about Zubeida, Meenaxi and water, cuz i bet you havent even heard them.
Subhash Ghai and A.R. Rahman make a lethal combination. When hard work and dedication with a vision work together , comes out a once in alifetime masterpiece. Genuinely, all the tracks are extremely mellifluous. The songs are close to embracing immortality. Anand Potdar
Highly,I repeat highly dissappointing music.I really wondered whether these songs were composed by ar rehman or by his junior. after just average music of JTYJN ,here comes a dud . i am really angry and did not expect this. he has lost touch of his early days.

the one where Beethoven's 5th symphony is interspersed with some stupid dialogues by Sallu....that's an insult to Ludwig Van....

jaane tu was superb music...no doubt about that..that damn movie owes 90 percent of success to the music...similarly yuvraaj's 80 percent failure is owed to rahman's music

Ghai's magic wand is biting dust. his style of movie making is not anymore anticipated for a dekko, when people decide about their hard-earned money more wisely. Kaif & sallu would be seen if enough potent to drag.... where by rushes it seems like a quite boring movie.

rocker u rock dude. he is not wine, to get better with age... he is more of becoming a background scorer. Btw its also due to Ghai, he has a different taste of music.. he has a bad habit of doing things always at large scale... moreover Gulzar and ARR are two so called epitome of thier own art.... they dont gel well here.... if u think abt lyrics.. u get to feel the real music (which his moderate) and if u concentrate on music.. lyrics falls flat.
Re: Re: hagly,highly dissappointing.

gulzar & AR have given excellent numbers in the past together...but this one is pure mediocre...

why everybody says that Rahman songs grow on oneself with repeatations. Why they grow, why not they r liked instantly dude?
Agree with G.S. Giri. If talk about the opera symphony then 4 stars r fine... more than music songs more sound like background score.. lacking melody in almost every song. Not all songs r that to go ga ga about. Only 2-3 songs r worth to be called showing Rehman class of melody.. and again not very melodius.. u cannot hum it yarrr.
I also feel that sometimes ARR should work with new writers and singers already there. Its laudable that he uses fresh voices from his troupe but should not bank always on his music, should have tried established new singers.. aatif, shaan, KK.. here. Gulzar's(I immensely respect the legend of him for his lyrics in 70's and early 80's, those were masterpiece but such delicate words not always carry well the avalanche of an expression/feelings.) words many places seem to be mismatching ARR's style of music.
Say whatever, if talking about liking song at once, then Rahmaan songs will lag behind other composers(J-L best example)...so if u hear ARR repeatedly, considering the name heavyweights of his and Gulzar.. u will end up liking the songs.... and for that matter any decent song if repeated surely gel with the senses at one time.
Just my thoughts.. not an invitation to pin down with abusives

Rahman always says, " i always accept projects in which i can add value to it rather than giving my name to it and moreover if you like beethoven u will like yuvraaj music".. There you go..
Re: too mch said.

c'mon J-L best example??? u can say shankar ehsaan loy... Jl, NS, AM etc r hopeless ghosts of yore...
Re: too mch said.
by Afred Abraham on Oct 21, 2008 07:21 PM
SHL r fine too but u cannot deny that the J-L were the most melodius in bollywood.... SHL r coming close to them

guys this album is into a different genre more suiting to the movie. Its a western classical album. Do u think shl, jl and others wud have delivered a music that suits this genre..hardly so.. look and feel the music of yuvvraaj. its the best to be heard and seen. seems like u all love shl, jl, ns and other antic music dir more than arr..just grow up dudes..one DIL KA RISHTA is enough from arr to beat the other md's..even Shankar ehsaan loy wud admit that..
Songs dont have the pain of HR songs .. Want to listen to good songs ..Listen to "sisak sisak ke". If you want to feel it, sit in an auto-rikshaw and hear it.
