Taare at #165 on all time 250 best movies of the world
by neeraj kumar on Jan 06, 2008 11:49 AM  | Hide replies

An IMDB review says that. Now shouldn't that be news. It's indeed a moment of pride for India. There are no other Indian movies on this list. I wonder why the media is shy to make news out of this. If this were to be SRK, even his fart is a ntatiional topic on all dailies and broadcast. All, Please cast your vote on IMDB to make TZP go even more on the IMDB all time best list. It's time the media understands that it cant get bigger than the society/audience it thrives to impress... Go cast your vote now on IMDB

IMDB doesn't give any review on its own. Those are user reviews you are reading. Also, don't count very much on IMDB ratings, since they are user ratings. You can see some very bad movies in IMDB Top 250, but some legendary movies are also missing.

it happens to any reasonably good movie when it releases. gradually it will drop down.

The process for God's sake!
by ! on Jan 05, 2008 11:47 PM

"process cannot be as simple as making plasticine elephants"

The movie can only aid the issue. How else do you expect the 'process' to be depicted? TZP is efficient storytelling.

Rediff is silent on Aamir now
by ABCdef on Jan 05, 2008 10:44 PM  | Hide replies

See guys...now that everyone is praising aamir; rediff is silent now. If the same case wud have been for some other actor they wud have wrote about him EVERYDAY twice.

Rediff guys are waiting for some controversy on Aamir and then they will make it a BIG NEWS.

Cheap guys....they have sold their soul in the name of making "breaking news " and doing chamchagiri of someone.

You may be correct, but you are not fair!
by on Jan 04, 2008 05:58 PM  | Hide replies

I don't find anything particularly wrong with your review - the comments you make on the climax and I too felt that the flip book being shown multiple times.
But I can tell you why the people are so angry with your review as I can identify with them as well.
In these times of mediocrity where movies like OSO, Dhoom etc. become hits. All the TV Soaps like Kyun Ki ... dominate. So many awards for films and TVs rewarding those mediocre efforts repeatedly year after year.
In this backdrop comes Aamir Khan's TZP, likes a breeze of fresh air, in a smelly 2nd class Railway waiting room. So people **want** to love it with all its flaws. Its our revenge (yes I am also one of them) and response on all the mediocrity (read OSO) being imposed and rewarded continuously.

Actually I liked 'The Blue Umbrella' as much as TZP purely on Cinametic merits. Not as much, but its also very good. But how many people watched it? Will it stand a chance, if it goes to Oscars?

So despite its flaws TZP is a master piece. And also its hard to agree on the flaws when its art. What you see as a flaw, might be seen as a beauty by me. Actually speaking, I understood that its a flip book only when it was shown the 2nd(or 3rd) time. So Aamir even understood this. Master at work, you see.

Totally agree with you. Your comment is most relevant. Very well explained... we love TZP despite it's flaws. And the day they make 20 movies a month like TZP, will the debate on flaws be relevant.

No Comparison!
by Sangeeta Sahu on Jan 04, 2008 05:16 PM

I seriously think that viewers are degrading a classic like "Taare Zameen Par" by comparing it to a cheap and ugly piece of work like " Om Shanti Om" which had been made only to earn money by playing with the audience's emotions. The huge publicity of the film and SRK and Farah Khan mislead the audience into believing that it was a masterpiece when in reality it was total crap.It was one of the most disgusting movies of the year made only to satisfy SRK's huge ego.I wonder how he must be feeling now with all the adulation and love rightfully going towards Aamir and his movie.Knowing him,he must be trying to influence all the jury members of these so-called awards functions to give him and his movies all the awards. That's what differentiates Aamir from him.Aamir is not concerned about these dubious award nites. For him,the real award is the reaction of the audience and in this case,he is the clear winner because the audiences have completely loved and adored his movie.Hats off to you,Mr Aamir Khan for this wonderful cinematic experience and we ur fans are really proud of you.Hope u continue making more such films in the future.
P.S.:Mr. Raja Sen,you should keep have kept ur invaluable comments about the movie to yourself because now u stand the risk of losing ur job at Rediff.

its a nice watch and nothing more

TZP is movie different from the usual masala bollywood throws at us. Its not a masterpiece, the dialogues are very substandard, there is a climax forced to inspire us but falls flat.

guru, johnny gaddhaar, water were much better

if u believe all the hype written by my friends in this message board, u will come out of the theatre disappointed.

All, out of areound 840 messages posted, barely 4-5 messages are against TZP appreciations, but coincidently all those messages are from one name 'Keerikkadan'. In fact this gentleman visits daily to this site not to view, but to post his messages stating this is an OK movie and nothing great abt it. Good job sir.

everytime ur criticism of movies are different from most of the people.

If you can't praise and rate a movie properly then don't do it here.

TZP is an excellent movie. Its full of learning and best story of the year
