DOR-best candidate but winner will be water sadly not as Indina entry
by kri on Sep 24, 2006 08:34 PM

people who are suggesting KANK oh gawd i think if this time the KAran-srk-bach gang does'nt manipulate as they have been doing in the past then KANK will not get even one award in any indian film award function from the start of the year we have some excellent movies..and KANK is just a blot on this year ..just because it has SRK ( yukk..) it became a hit ...i heard that its 4 hour movie may be KJ should have planned sequels may be 2 or 3 sequals and it would might have been better I wanted to devot a paragraph for ridiculing KANK
now coming to main point ..well RDB and MUnna .. are surely good films ..but these movies have lot of drama in it ..why do you think Lagan did not win oscar ..it was defeated by a movie which reality based .and which have same great acting performances ..so I think we should either send Omkara ( just for greate acting ) or send DOR ..this new movie is rocking ..and it got very novel story ..and good perrformances and real potential ..although I think winning a oscor is also about a lot of lobbying .where this movie might fail but it will be atleast better candidate ..
well one thing is sure ..WATER will be winner this year sadly not as an India entry

Rang de basanti...what else...
we have these three choices
- Rang de Basanti
- Omkara
- Lage raho Munnabhai

Munnabhai looks good because of its dialogs..who in the west will understand the comic dialogs of circuit.

For those who recommended Krishh....have some senze guys...:):):)

"Tanmathra" A Malayalam Movie Staring Mohanlal and directed by Blessy about a middle aged government servent who's life changes drastically when he starts suffering from Alziemers disease is a beautifully made film.....I loved RDB as well but for oscars i think thanmathra shld be the choice

Ben Smith
Oscar!
by Ben Smith on Sep 24, 2006 06:08 PM

None of these movies will make ANY chance because Netherlands' entry for the Oscar is a movie about WOII called 'Black Book' (with english subtitles) in dutch (Zwarte Boek) from the very famous dutch filmmaker Paul Verhoeven (Basic Instinct, Total Recall, Robo Cop,The Hitchhiker, Showgirls). This movie is ofcourse about The War and a Jewish girl who falls in love with the High ranked SS military officer (Hitler's GESTAPO)and >ofcourse!with typical Dutch sex scenes. In Hollywood they loved this movie (Jewish and WOII)and it was also their idea to send this movie for the Oscar. The shooting was in The Hague(Netherland) where this all happenend in WO11.
It's not fair to other foreign language movies.
Jews will score highest in USA and Europe!!!!!

rohan
it should be...
by rohan on Sep 24, 2006 04:12 PM

i think it should be either omkara or lage raho munnabhai.but the year is still not over and big movies like dhoom2, don and umrao jaan are coming up.we should only decide after thse movies release.i think if we don't,it would be unfair.anyway the biggest blockbuster of the year, krrish, should be kept away from the awards.it is a uniquely indian superhero film and is not that serious a movie to send to the oscars.a great entertainer though it was,it is not oscar material, because it can be understood by anybody.oscar level cinema is one which only thinking minds can comprehend(which is why many go flop,as they don't appeal to the masses).
