Quote from the article....
"No. I have given up ideas of doing a remake. No one else writes comedy in Kerala now, so I thought of writing again. This is my 62nd film, 37 of which have been written by me. I wanted to make this film in Malayalam, but it never happened. The film has been inspired by R K Laxman's Malgudi Days. I think it will be the first Indian comedy in a village."

..The sheer audacity of the writer(self-styled)/director amazes me. Somebody ought to tell him the name of British comedy "Waking Ned Divine" and see his reaction. Malamaal weekly is a direct lift from that movie. No wonder the director claims that he never works off a script. He probably works of a DVD of the original.

Have nt any one heard of the movie 'Waking Ned Divine'?

How on the earth does he assume no one ever saw this movie. Atleast he could have mentioned its an inspired movie.

Another remake
by d dhar on Mar 10, 2006 01:35 AM

This is a remake of "Waking Ned Devine". And yes Waking Ned Devine is set against a rural Irish background and has been my favorite movie for a long time.

Wish people would stop plagiarising other people's work! The industry is sadly lacking any originality.

Priyan should have the guts to proclaim from which movie he has copied the theme.

I don't think priyadarshan is right.there are good comedy movies coming in malayalam.most of the movies remade by priyan were not originally written or directed by him.he is only good to remake others great movies.he took one movie recently in malyalam and it flopped.he is not the favourite of malayalies now.

This movie looks like a copy of "Finding Ned Devine". I have seen the original and it is excellent. If Mr. Priyadarshan was inspired by it he should say so.

Be a sport Mr. Priyadarshan.

What is the definition of Star?
by parag on Mar 09, 2006 08:46 PM

I am surprised with your kind of media. When you asked Priyadarshan that why he didnt take any star in the film? I dont know why Media doesnt consider Ritiesh Deshmukh as a star.
Perhaps he is the only hero today in the Industry whose every film is a Hit. If that is the not credential of a Star then what? I must understand definition of star. He has huge fan-following today. Whenever he appeared on the screen in Bluffmaster, there were whistles & clap, even though hero of the film was Abhishek.
You media is highly biased. You call heroes like Shahid Kapur,Imraan Hashmi,Fardeen khan,Hrithik Roshan as stars when they have hardly one or 2 Hit films to their credit in thier entire career.
You media people should come out of age now.
