When the review does not even catch a lift from Hollywood!
by Anup on Feb 26, 2003 11:15 PM

This movie is a lift from a Steven King written movie Misery. Kathy Bates got an Oscar for playing that part.

It is indeed deplorable when a reviewer cannot spot a lift and goes ga ga over the film.

And to top it all Misery was a popular Hollywood production...widely available in India.

Isn't this a remake of Misery?
by Pravin Sitaram on Feb 26, 2003 11:01 PM

Another remake....this is a straight lift-off Stephen King's Misery for which Kathy Bates won an Oscar. Balu Mahendru has given us such wonderfully original films like Moondram Pirai....did he run out of ideas that he had to lift it from a Hollywood flick? I hope they have atleast given credit to the person who wrote the original story.

I don't know if anyone else thought the same way. However, while reading the storyline, it bears a very close resemblance to the movei MISERY with James Caan and Cathy Bateman. I wonder whether the writer of this piece saw the similarity between the two movies.

Plagiarism

I dont read your reviews a lot, but i just happenstance read it when i was checking the news.

This movie sounds awfully close to a hollywood movie

called "Boxing Helena". Though it is not exactly the same, I have seen so many movies made by the so called

crown jewels of tamil cinema, be it Kamal plagiarizing some of the classics here in the US, these people time and time again steal ideas. I do not

know if they pay any royalty to hollywood story writers..

It is perhaps pertinent to recall that this movie seems to be substantially based on a Stephen King novel ("Misery", I think)

Interesting review about a movie that sounds exactly like the Stephen King book-turned-movie starring Kathy Bates (Dolores Claiborne?). Would have been good if the reviewer mentioned this, rather than making it sound like an original screenplay.
