Our roads are the worst and while considering the wear and tear of the tyres and the maintenance costs because of poor road conditions, road users are indirecty paying a lot of money over and above the fuel cost. Due to pothholes and poor road conditions smooth driving is impossible in most of the roads and frequent braking and slowing down leads to atleast 20% more fuel consumption than ususal. All the roads to be maintained by a single body under the central government and secotorwise maintenance responsibilities to be given to engineers. Strict action to be taken if they are not doing their job properly and road inspection teams to be formed to monitor the conditions of the road.
At least the burden of Govt. revenue is not alone borne by the Tax payers while the tax evaders enjoy the subsidies as well. So as a result the honest tax payers pay more tax and the evaders keep enjoying both ways. A common man will not spend more than 100 Litres of fuel a month, so max effect is about 1000 to 1200 per month for a four wheeler owner and 200 to 400 p.m. for a two wheeler owner. And it has to be paid by all. So just imagine if this amount was to be paid only by the 1% tax payers the amount would have been atleast 5 times. So if you are an honest tax payer you should feel happy that the the load is being shared by all including non-taxpayers and not only poor tax payers.

Increase in Petrol and Diesel Prices will have direct impact on Business, Public Transport and Essential commodities. This is all because of government not taking ownership

Agreed. At the same time, the government has to ensure that it provides all the basic amenities to the Tax payers and common people. We are paying taxes, unsubsidised petrol products and Still, I am driving in a pot hole roads, road full of garbages, water logged roads during rain etc...

Actually, current problem is due to Trump sanctions on Iran and forcing all countries to stop buying crude oil from Iran. Iran used to export 3 to 3.5 million barrels per day. If it becomes zero, then that much crude oil will not be available in the market. Remaining countries together should produce 3.5 million barrels extra to compensate for the loss of Iran oil. But they have capacity only to produce less than 1 million barrels extra. Thus prices going up. Trump is responsible for current oil price, not OPEC.
Countries like Pakistan and Nigeria have a lower cost of Petrol and the government is doing every thing to help the common man. Why is it not happening in India ? We tax the common man to death or make him take up crime as an alternative. If you increase the cost of fuel then it increases the price of every thing in our daily use !

Pakistan and Nigeria are developing like India .With faster development , there is a price one has to pay . Govt will need to build Metros , airports , roads , ie basically to develop infrastructure

If it increases price of everything in our daily use, then how come inflation is only 4%?
Basic purpose of FM is to suck the blood of middle class through legal means, mis-using his powers given to him by Public(here by PM) He is doing his job.
All the logic for high taxes on petrol is just a lame excuse by the govt. Actually they (leaders and govt. officials) are hardly affected by it, because they use official vehicles for official as well as personal use and therefore it is the tax payer common man who suffers. They can generate more tax revenue by taxing cigarettes and liquor much higher, but they wont do it, because that is not free for govt. servants; then their personal money will get used up. But rise in petrol and diesel prices does not affect them, sab kuch sarkari kharche pe chal jata hai..... common man should realise this and protest.
What is the real truth if govt. since deregulation by govt.? Is it still giving subsidy or earning from it? As matter of policy to stop usage of private vehicle prices can be kept high but if public realistically reduce using what will happen to govt. funding.
