If what Companies sell will decide what quality of Director's it will have on it's Board, then as a corollary "Liquor and Tobacco Companies" will only attract the most unethical and "unprincipled" (pun intended) people! Now, do we want that?
If we have concerns about the product a Company is selling, the answer is to do something about it legally. To put "social" restrictions on attracting best talent would be counter productive.

Why not get it banned then? If the product is sold legally, the Company has every right to attract the best talent possible and it's good for us citizens too that "principled" people are managing the Company rather than "people who other Companies would not touch".

Talking about being "Silly"...it is ok to get rid of drunk teachers but its not ok to get rid of teachers who make money by selling/producing those drinks!! Get a life dude!
Ethics are never a part of western academics; But as a Bharatiya our heads are down by shame when we hear such dastardly acts of money purchasing the will,strength,courage and character of so called academicians of our modern society and really feel how hollow they are to reach the hearts and minds of our future generations;
