Rotting grains and govt
by sunder iyer on Sep 07, 2010 11:30 PM  | Hide replies

It is shame and pathetic that the apex court had to come to the aid of the citizens because of the apathy of the Govt.Instead of getting in to slanging match the Govt should have understood governence has got to rots prompting the SC to intervene. This Govt will now mix up these rotting grains with good ones and make money

stup-reme court
by H N on Sep 07, 2010 11:30 PM  | Hide replies

the entire bench has their head stuck in dirt or have nothing useful to do and writing ridiculous judgements.

The layers of nonsense in this judgement is like an onion. you can keepon peeling it and the stick will never go away.

1) Force people to rely more on an already under delivering unreliable government and create vote banks.
2) Shot in the arm for corrupt PDS/FCI etc.
3) Destroy the lower end of the markets forcing more people to depend on the government for food.
4) Increase deficit and make beggars out of this entire nation.
5) Create health problems by distributing substandard food products.

thats one angle...the other is - millions dont get food, while food rots in govt godowns...
and if the people have food on the plate, they are more positive about life and may do good..
in either case, its better to give it than to throw...

Holistic approach
by Govind Lal on Sep 07, 2010 08:37 PM  | Hide replies

Look at the way Indians are taught how to manage the food problems. The present leaders of India carefully listen to these speeches and get enlightened. They then come back here and switch on the speaker for Indians to hear. Till 1600 there did not have any advisers for India. The Kings and Emperors took responsibility to feed the people. We had the famous NITISASTRA -written by Vada Bhatta of the Court of Vikramaditya 2000 years back. And also the Viduraniti of Mahabharata. That was enough to rule a country like India. It is time the govt introduce these subjects in the selection of IAS officers. Let our specialists in the Planning Commission and Central Statistical Organization do research on these famous treatise. Sure we will get very good outcome. This treatise has a holistic approach. Not like economics/politics/science/engineering etc. The people’s representatives should also have a knowledge of this treatise. Let our vision be aimed with these words of wisdom in the treatise. Modern day subjects are also to be included in the thought process.

Distribution of food grains to poor
by amish on Sep 07, 2010 05:50 PM  | Hide replies

I will support this scheme of distributing food grains instead of rotting to the poor, now refering to our honourable prime minister statement about the distribution i would tell that instead of commenting on supereme court's order he should make policies about not to make the food waste, about storages. This is also shear coincidence that INDIA is the only country in which about 350 million people didn't know that if they will get their next meal or not but our political leaders wear THE GARLANDS that is made RS 1000 notes. So first of all our "respected" political leaders should think about their motives for the indian public. It is also true that during the distribution of grains not more than 10% is collected by poor people and rest is eaten as a comission by the people who are responsible for the distribution.
