Resources are scarce. But, the main problem is that even this is siphoned off and cornered by the well to do and the powerful. This way the actual availability reduces even further.
It is important for the country to reduce its population to sustainable levels and every effort should be made towards this. Monetary benefit is not one of the successful methods especially in the corrupt situation prevailing in India.
For any country, the interests of the country comes first followed by State, People and lastly language and religion (if at all). But, here in India we have the interests totally lopsided. The Govt first looks at Religion, then language, then State and the Country (if at all). In the interest of the Country, the Govt has to take tough measures.If need be coercion and penalties also should be enforced. But, the question is "does the Govt have the will?"
One should never fight with nature, espcially with birth of your first child because God can be kind to a couple once but not always. So, i feel one can have their first child in time and then govt should give incentive to either delay or stop the birth of second child.
This is a story of 6-7 years back. I was working in Europe. One day I was talking with a Chinese and a Pakistani boy about China. The Chinese was saying, "In China, we have one family, one child policy."
The Pakistani boy asked,"Is this rule for everybody?"
The Chinese boy replied,"Yes...except a few minority group."
The Pakistani boy thundered," Why this rule would be put on the Muslims? This is our religious right to have children as per our wish."
It was going to be a Pakistan-China war before I interevened.
I tried to pacify the Pakistani, "what about the growing population where the resources are so scarce?"
The Pakistani boy replied prophetically," It is written in Quran that Allah has allotted everything for every human being on this earth."
No comments further!!! But I have seen many educated Muslim friends too whose wives are educated not to have more than one child.
what is the point in paying folks to delay their children.. will it build better marriages? What is a marriage all about? Please gentlemen use your brains. Money is a carrot to compromise people. Further, people are smart they will marry early and let go the opportunity. Guys, how many marriages really get registered with the government? How much hassle will it be to pay them folks... over 40 thousand weddings happen on an average across India... who will process the payments... and pay for the overheads?
Why must the taxpayers money be mis-spent? Can we infact ensure that no family has more that 2 kids? or even go for a one child policy... What are the benefits and pains of the policy? How to penalize parents with more that two children... were any twins born?
Gosh these thugs leading the nation have such short vision that they just ruin the concept of INDIA. Why are you well-wishers of this policy being so short-sighted... what kind of education do u really get...
To controll population you shouldnot postpond first delivery as it has big problems in many families. It is better to give education free food & Other govt Benefits like backward class benefits for 1st & IInd child only or for those families having maximum of two children. This will force
