Dhoni
by CC on Dec 11, 2012 10:36 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni himself know that he is not made for test cricket then automatically that will effect not only his performance but overall team performance....give captaincy to a player who loves to play test cricket...the only man currently we have is C.PUJARA...

Within no time he will also become like Virat Kohli whom media and advertisers have successfully spoilt. I don't understand why cash should be given when you give trophy to a cricketer as cricketer of the year. Rs. 5 lakhs was given to Kohli who is already earning millions through endorsements and match fee. BCCI could have spent money on talent search for the team from youngsters in India and arrange coaching for them instead of making rich players a super rich.

Ganguly is correct
by Bharat on Dec 11, 2012 10:27 AM  | Hide replies

He is absolutely correct - This shows Ganguly's real concern for Indian Team and his knowledge - and should be apperciated - though myself not at all a big fan of him.

Instead of two captains we should have three one for each format of game also should have different set of teams too in case feasible else give rest to some after each series based on physical condition and performance give chance to others.
This will
- Keep a check on attitude problem -like in case of Dhony
_ Nobody will feel allmighty and take the things for granted

- Nobody will feel overburdened

- Will Provide sufficeint time for rest and recreation

- Selectors will have more talent at hand
to select from

- Will reduce chances of partiality

- Will create healthy environment of competition

- Those playing in domestoic cricket will not feel ignored as chances to get in team will be high

- Players will be able to concentrate and prepare themselves for a particular format properly

- Game of cricket & ultimately India will benefit from this

apart from this should have different set of selectors too for different formats.

too much cricket
by veerapuram dharan on Dec 11, 2012 10:26 AM  | Hide replies

some time back, even dhoni himself was complaining about too much cricket affecting the players performance. rajiv shukla used to say let him retire if he doesnt want to play. may be hes right. if he plays, then he has to give his best. he should have prioritised which cricket is important to him and which is not. its easy for a common man to judge that dhoni is good only for ODI and T20. T20 itself is for upcoming youngsters. i sincerely wish those who play test cricket please dont play in T20s and/or in ODIs..

Same Rajeev Shulka when it comes to Sachin Tendulkar has said nobody can ask Sachin to retire and it is only Sachin's decision as to when to retire. Why this double standard?

Split Captaincy
by Aditya Misra on Dec 11, 2012 10:22 AM

Yes. But before trhat, Dhoni has become too predictable for the rival teams and a bit rigid in his aproach towards making changes. So he needs to be removed from Captaincy. And regarding split captaincy, I would suggest different set of players for the different formats of the game. We need to have the best players for the Tests, and ODIs whereas the T-20s should be the nursery to groom new entrants.

cricket team selection
by kamal harlalka on Dec 11, 2012 10:16 AM  | Hide replies

only way is once a batsman makes 50 rest him two match, 100 three match, double 5 match and bowler takes 4 wkt rest him 2, 5 rest him 3 and 7 rest him season. u see success goes to head of indians very easily and rest damge is done by media hype, advertisement and endorsement money etc.our players play for records and not for winning by contributing some bit as by australians, south africans

On this logics, every players will got out on 49 or 99 etc. Because he do not want to left out from team.

It not an correct method. Correct method is removed the selector Srikantha and removed all Chennai player from team like Ashwin, Dhoni, Raina, Jadeja and etc.

NO NEED
by Shilpa Mehta on Dec 11, 2012 10:15 AM  | Hide replies

No need to change the captain or mnake drastic changes in the team .
One or two losses doesn't mean team or its leader is bad . Give them some more time .
Any major changes in the team will result in even bigger losses .

Youngsters like Kohli, Pujara
& Ashwin failed miserably in last two matches & is responsible for such situation . Whereas veterans like Viru , Sachin , Dhoni , Gambhir at least did something .

Kohli - yes, he failed.
Ashwini - failed in bowling but did some thing in batting
Pujara - was not dismissed for first 3 innings in this series and scored a double. Now only he has picked up from others to fail consistently.

Let us decide before hand how many chances should be given to the team or an individual. 10 test matches lost out of 13 played in recent times is enough.
Same applies for Tendulkar. Let us decide now that unless he scores as per his long term average in next match he should be out of the team. Its enough of chance giving. Its not one or two losses but 10 out of 13.

you are so correct that I cant say more. Have Dhoni captain India for another 2 series and there will be no competition to anyone leave Ganguly. At the end Dhoni will have no competitor aas captain even Tendulkar. Thanks for your insight

Split Captaincy and Team
by Bimal Vyas on Dec 11, 2012 10:01 AM  | Hide replies

You are right dada. Now the time has come up when we need different team and leadership for T-20, One-Day and Test form. Gautam Gambhir may be the choice for One-Day International, Virat Kohli or Suresh Raina for T-20 and MS Dhoni for Test team. Consistency has to be made the prime benchmark for anybody's survival in the team. If there is no performance then he is out. Every player has to play for the pride of the country and not for the money. If they want money, then they should leaver international cricket and always focus on IPL.

and the scores he made against nz when we won both tests they were made in easy situations? the 52 he scored against eng was in easy situation?

the 90 odd he made in sa vs steyn?

how many runs do you want from him by the way? and what do u mean no other wicket keeper ''of late'' i am telling he is india's best wkt keeper batsman TILL DATE...

we went to aus under sachin and were whitewashed, didnot we? and what were the scores of then wk keeper?

are u suggesting that those 2 whitewashes and 2 home losses were because of dhoni performances as a batsman and wk keeper?

when in 1983 wi came here we lost 3 tests in india . what did the then wk keeper score?

i repeat as a batsman and keeper he is our best till date..

keep yourfuckingdogmatism to yourself. even if you repeat 1000 times, it is the same thing. whitewashes were because of failure of seniors, & stupidDhoni's batting & captaincy. if 90 v steyn is a big thing, record master has 146. Being whitewashed by a substandard Australian team was the worst thing to happen. No Mcgrath/Warne/Bret/Hayden/Gilchrist and still India lost because of this moron.

but did i not agree that people questioning his captaincy is understandable...still as a batsman he has performed very well. can you remember any wk keeper who played better than him in difficult siutations? even the best batsmen have failed so many times...and nobody ever said dhoni is the greatest or great batsmen in tests...so how can you expect that types of scores from him? you are talking as though you want him to score like dravid and laxman every time...

his contribution is not insignificant. our earlier keeper batsmen struggled to have an average of even 30 runs...surely you cannot claim they were better bats than dhoni...dhoni has contributed with an average of 48 runs in our TESTS wins...still if you think he does not deserve a place in indian test side i will say that you are dogmatic...

it is not nonsense. if records were everything, sachin would be called the greatest batsman on earth.

if dhoni batted well in the middle order when it mattered, situation would have been much better.

in england he batted well on birmingham & sydney which are batters paradise. rest all places, he failed. dont tell me he ran out of partners because he fell earlier than his partners. only instance he carried his bat was 1 innings in sydney. do i need to speak about the failure of 4/5 innings in the Ind v Eng latest tests that he failed?

split captaincy and split team will be a good solution
by soco on Dec 11, 2012 09:52 AM

becos some players are totally unfit for test , they are only good for ipl they have never an asset for indian test team, and some are good for test they have never been an asset for ipl or odi.

so split the captaincy becos we have seent the whitewash series and current series and have different captain for test and different captain for t20 and odi
