If i had the veto power and voting power with in the padma awards and bharat ratna selection committee, then I would never select sachin for the bharat ratna.... the reason being its a sport and also its not a olympic sport... it hardly played by some ten countries competively.... infact padma vibhushan given to sachin is also not right... sachin was never a good leader..
Actually, Bharat Ratna should feel honoured with Sachin and even this world's highest honour may be nobel prize (if it was for sports ), must have been bestowed to sachin, no that particular honour would have felt honoured to perpetuaity .

First of all,why is Bharat Ratna for hitting a ball with a piece of wood ?
If you really want to give in sports,than first give to major dhyanchand posthumously who used a thin stick to hit the ball than a flatter one,that was more tough and I hear he even did magic with it.
If criteria does not permit to award to sports man,then award it to Vajpayee or Anna Hazare Jee.
Congress cannot even find one ratna every year among billions every year.It is shameful that bharat ratna is awarded in some years,when congress feels ok,let us give to so and so..
Congress is wasting all its energy in concentrating how to appoint a corrupt person as CVC commission,how to appoint a near and dear one as PM or president,how to make which scam and earn how much,but when it comes to giving back to civil society,like the dumb cricketers,it shows its rear..not a single cricketer came forward to support Anna Hazare and we are talking so much about a stick and ball game..
Times of India carried an article that politicians in each state is competing with each other to divert money earmarked for Education to give largesse to the Indian WC team. We cant expect better from our politicians. At the least, these guys who recommend Bharat Ratna should not approach their contacts in the govt to waive taxes on their income. That could be the first step towards qualifying themselves to recommend others for BR.
Why are people saying that rules have to change if Sachin is to be awarded the Bharat Ratna? Folks wake up. I know there are some who contest his being awarded the Bharat Ratna. Dont start comparing one Bharat Ratna awardee with another. That is unnecessarily demeaning the highest award of the country. Let us face facts, the people who have received this award are no ordaniry persons. Now to come to the point whether rules have to be changed to include Sachin for the award.Frankly I do not think the rules have to change. The reason is simple.If "ART" is there as a category for the award then he qualifies. If batting, the way Sachin does is not an ART then what is ART? Can any TOM,Dick or Harry do it or has done it? NO. It is beyond the concept of normal men.He has converted his batting skills into an ART and that is why he should be awarded the award in that category. Of course some of the folks would contest that. In that case many of the politicians and businessmen and Babus have changed Corruption into an ART and should they also qualify? Folks ! I am stumped there and leave it to your good senses. I feel he deserves it and let us not crib about it.
what stupid idea to give B.Ratna to Tendulakar. he is a sports man and made millions and now on what basis one has to give this award?? for no of centuries scored?? or for the catches or for saving certain boundaries??
Becuase He will make more money by TV adds and get the rights and open many restaurants and He will do many goodies for his cronies and so on. and please dont ask What he has done for INDIA.? All he did for his own good and fame. and he needs a country now, so give India to him. Thats all.

Viswanathan Anand is the Sachin Tendulkar of Chess. He should be considered as well if at all Sachin gets it..
