How follish to compare with the lady cricketer or bradman. If they really want to exert this women(clark). the only way to know that women cricketer who scored more than Tendulkar is better is by playing her team against SA men team.
Quite the same logic for Don Bradman Sir, since that cannot be done. let us give credit to Sachin for 1 dayers and bradman for test.
Can Sachin rise up to captain India once again??? Or Support Sehwag who is in his seasoned payer league to captain?
Sehwag and Zaheer is senior player and deserves respect like Tendulkar even when they stop playing.

I think this award is a bit too premature for SRT. This is not to take away any gloss from his achievements. He is indeed a "Ratna" for INDIA. But I would like to see his exemplary behaviour and service to Nation over a period of another 20 years before the govt confers him with the Award!!

That is not great modesty from SRT if he says excited abt the prospects for BharatRatna, shud not undermine the award by diluting the parameters, even if there are some aberrations in between. Otherwise there wud be Beeline (read Bharatratna for BEE)from all cross the netion for so many rare achievements, both past and present. Let us not be parochial or emotional abt the greatest award of the nation.

you can not set a timeframe for this award. career of teh sportsperson is short as compared to the politicians, singers or social workers. do you think he will play another 20 years? or only social servent be rewarded?

Tendulkar had got once to represent the country in 98 Commonwealth Games cricket....in C' Games, Olympics, Asian Games , thr is no prize money....u ve 2 perform for the country passionately to win a medal.... The scores of Sachin were in all the 3 matches, 15 against Antigua & Barbuda , 2 vs Canada ( both as opner), 19 vs Aus coming at 2nd down ....
contrary to that Dhyanchand has 3 Gold Medals representing for the country in 1928, 1932 & 1936 Olympics... Abhinav Bindra has 1 Gold to his name representing India in 2008 Bejing Olympics....first of all , its too difficult to qaulify for an olympic shooting event..n then winning a Gold with a score margin of 1 or 2 is an hurricane task...just a blink of eye, then u ve to wait for 4 more yrs !!!!!!!
If u discard the Olympics n then say abt Indivisual Records, then Ranjan Sodhi is the World record holder in Double Trap shooting event ..... Marry Kom has won the World Amateur boxing gold in 2008 ... Pankaj Advani has won the World Professional Billiards Championship apart from numerous championships... Vishy Anand , dont remember how many championships he has won !!!! just go n check in wiki ....

bango tango dude, either you have gone mad or you should open a Bango tango award and give it to whoever you want. Lets take your nominations one by one. Dhyanchand is dead. A Bindra ha s won only once and is relatively very new so is P Advani, let them play for atleast 10 years before you decide Bharat Ratna for them. Else after every medal you will start distributing bharat Ratna.You can compare each medal of theirs to each of Sachin's World record. Now compare yourself how many each one has scored ?? As for V Anand, With all due respect to him, he resides in Spain with his family for more than 7 years. He hardly represents India in matches( though he makes India proud with Individual titles ).He refused to play in Indian team in world chess. He already got Padma Vibhushan and Khel Ratna which he deserved, but for sure he doesnt deserve Bharat Ratna more than Sachin.

Dhyanchand is dead, Bindra and others are just starters while sachin has been playing for almost 25 years now ... 20 years at least if counting only internaton cricket, and not u/14 tournaments etc.

My dear friends, Winning gold in olympics is no joke and definitely greater than anything like scoring 200 or 300 in an innings in cricket. So do not get carried away.Abhinav is the lone gold medalist from India. So do not take away the credit from him.Same is the case with Viswanathan Anand. It is high time other sports get recognized.In that case, I would say Kapil Dev should get Bharat Ratna for having achieved the most impossible thing in Indian cricket so far - getting the world cup in 1983 which is still a dream(it involved lot of his contribution too).

200 is not compared with gold...a world record with max runs in cricket in both forms is being compared...and as an FYI , there are 100 of players who have won gold in olympics for each country...but there is only one SRT who has scored max runs in cricket :)

India is a country of Loosers. essentially in that every single person in India tries to be a looer, and if some one by his effort, will and talent becomes a winner, all the loosers gang up together and try to pull down the winner and prove to their looser nation that infact this person is not a winner but also a a looser like every body else is a looser in this country.
How can anyone dare to be a winner in this country of loosers seems to be the entire logic to the arguement.
All the comments on Sachin on this forumn exactly proves this point yet again.
