It should be Bharat Khel Ratna
by Padmanabhan S on Dec 23, 2010 09:42 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin Tendulkar had served the country (and perhaps, himself in the process)a great deal, by excelling in his field of activity. But, that does not mean that he should be one deserving Bharat Ratna award. The sanctity of the award has to be preserved, or else, it will lose its sanctity.
Let there be another award for sportsmen apart from Arjuna award. We may call it Bharat Khel Ratna award, but, certainly not Bharat Ratna. If we go about conferring awards in this manner, tomorrow, one film artiste for having acted in several movies will also be called a Bharat Ratna!

films starts dont act for some country , do they?

but sportsmen represent their countries, isnt it?

when whatever they do is seen as an achievement of country , then they are the pride of the country.

film industry isnt ruled by the government , but sports is a national field

No one cares abt this award anymore... It has lost its special status when politicians and other undeserving ppl started getting this... The award also runs like the president election in India....!!

plz understand that this is all media created. they are asking other sportsperson/celebs/politicians whether SRT should get the award. ofcourse they will say yes. I think if india wins the WC2011 and sachin helps in getting india there, by scoring heaps of runs, as he did in 2003 and 1999, then he should be given the award.

What the Hell of these Controversies
by Sarkar S on Dec 23, 2010 09:30 PM  | Hide replies

Mr Tendulkar, I would say you don't need this Bharat Ratna, you are already a Jewel Of Bharat, probably the highest carat Diamond.
I don't understand, is there any need for discussion on things that are so so evident.
Why we need a controversy even for a Legend/God Of Cricket like Sachin, that's really sick. Or is it that we guys are so pessimistic that we create rather need controversies.

My precise point. Why ask people like Anand, Saina or Gavaskar and make them say "yes", can they survive in India if they say no!
Tendulkar does not need any certification about the already known fact that he is a rare gem amongst cricket playing world, let alone Indians. Any celebrity that made such a big celebrity status at age 16 would have self destructed themselves, this miracle of a human being still thrives and keeps his head on his shoulders. Very humble.
I have met his brother Ajit and you can see they are a gem of a family, absolutely no arrogance!

Dont mind bro , some people are just jealous and refuse to look at the positive aspects of Mr Tendulkar.

Your 16 years old point is a good one , how many of us can do something which can make us a hero at 16? we are still dependent on our parents at that age , and luk at sachin he made his identity at 16 and is still maintaining his identity at this age .

He is the greatest Indian after Gandhi

Yes, completely agreed, moreover he never demanded from his side as he always wants to stay away from controversies. But one thing is sure it was English Prome Minister or other who recommended for granting him Honour of "SIR" which is more appropriate as on today and forever. Just see the people who ruled us are praising him, its a gr8 honour for the country.

sachin must open the indian innings before i recommend his name to madam for bharat ratna in test matches also so that he will not have to remain not out on 111 perfect NELSON. Sachin has chance to score 201 not out like sehawag in shrilanka tour 2008 ? i am most optimastic and say sachin may score 302 not out when opens the innings ? "singing is a timepass..." its true for many, not for all, particularly for professionals like ARR. Rahman has a universal appeal. you can listen to his music any time.. in the case of the sachin, you might not even watch his full innings if its a test or odi...
he is not even a captain of the team.. he was a flop as a captain. how has the country benefited by sachin records..?

sachin making records what has the nation gained from it... foreigners woke up to who ARR is, when is composed the music for slumdog millionaire...
if you compare musicians as not qualified for bharat ratna, then what has lata mangeshkar done to get the bharat ratna..?

sachin should be happy and content he has the padma vibushan award to his name.. that itself is a bit too much for what he has done... atmost he should have been given the padma shri.. just like dhoni and harbhajan singh.

people line up in thousands to watch him, thats his charishma , he is the only person in INDIA , who can gather so much support virtually in every indian state.
