A Player like the stature of Dravid should be handled like this.If the selectors werent sure of the future of Dravid they shouldnt have recalled him for the champions trophy just bcoz some of the youngsters cant face short ball. Dravid should call it quits and watch the show from behind as it unfolds. If axe must have fallen it must have been on the captaincy of Dhoni,Ishant sharma , harbhajan singh for their incompetencies.

Dravid is definitely a very good player for tests, but come shorter version of the game, he is a sucker... He is a sheer treat to be watched in tests, no body matches his elegence but ODI are different you need to cut loose at times, must be more adaptable to the situations.

Being immotional in writing is sometimes of no use, B'coz u r dealing with ice cold a person, any way he is shown door for the obvious reason.

Right that a batsmen must be able to adapt to situations but lets face it by the time Dravid comes to bat either his partner at the other end is incapable of handling the slow flow of runs or they are incapable of batting itself!!!!!.Who can forget the 331 partnership with Tendulkar or the 318 partnership with Ganguly, or the fact that he is involved in more than 75 century partnerships. So i suggest u cut the crap and set ur facts right b4 u talk any more rubbish about Dravid altogether.

I trully agree by you! Y Ishant despite terrible performance. I sincerely feel Dravid should have been there even though Dhoni myt have problems in selecting the final 11.
Re: i wonder
by Pradeep Shinde on Oct 15, 2009 07:17 PM
Look at the larger picture...Dravid is a sucker, can't keep on wasting balls and loose, some time you need to chase the kookaburra with your wood.
Re: Re: i wonder
by harish bhat on Oct 15, 2009 08:15 PM
Dravid is known for his timing unlike dhoni who takes a stance as though he is going to hit everything out of the park but lands with in the 30 yard circle.Dravid can play short pitched balls unlike YOUNGER PLAYERS -- DHONI,YUVARAJ etc. Dhoni can never achieve what Dravid has achieved and moreover Dravid gives a stand at one end which helps the other batsmen to go hammer and tongs at the bowler. It ain't Dravids problem if the other players are incapable of pushing the score at much faster rate than Dravid can.The larger picture is Dravid aint what u call but the other S.O.b's are.
If Dravid was removed from the Team due to his Non Performance......Wat the hell is Ishant doing there in the list...His Bowling has become rusty..Wat is his speed....125-130 Beyond this he doesnt go only... OOOOH Now i get it....He has goood terms with the captain..thats the reason y he is in the team....

this is defeneitly another game by selection committe.. abhishek nayar and usuf pathan have good record in indian pitch.. than jadeja .. they are stupid people just replace someone with out thinking ..
Re: Re: Ishant VS Dravid
by Pradeep Shinde on Oct 15, 2009 07:28 PM
Don't worry Aby, he'll not be required for the tournament, he'll just pass on few water bottles to the real players, why do you require Nayar or Oosuf pathan for this job, let RJ enjoy this high paying helpers job.
Rahul Dravid was a good Test player. But, he was one of the worst ODI player at No-3 position, due to which India has lost many matches. Medial fools, useless commentators sang praises towards him when he was captain. Now, see what has happened????
Dravid was a good test batsman, but a worst, boring ODI player, which is a fact..

Well I am a cricket fanatic and except for one match between India and Sri Lanka in mid 2001 (where he finished 49 not out, India needed 6 off the last ball and he couldnt connect enough) I cannot think of a single match where Dravid can be blamed for India's loss. Where from did you get the info that India lost many ODIs because of Dravid ? Here's list of matches that India lost when Dravid played for India. After going through the scorecards of each of the matches, I dont think except for one match Dravid can be blamed for India's defeat : http://stats.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/28114.html?class=2;result=2;template=results;type=batting;view=innings

Rahul Dravid always raised the asking rate from around 5 runs per over to 6.6 runs per over by the 35 over many times and got out. There is not a single instance, but many matches to prove this point. May be chasing 7 runs per over is easy now because of the advent of 20-20 cericket.

I already gave you the list of matches that India lost when Dravid was a part of the team. Instead of providing baseless arguments, why dont you back it up with some statistical data ? If you say, there are many such matches where India lost because of Dravid while chasing, then why dont you post the link to the scorecards of such matches ?

Well 7-0 is you should pray for, best bet for you podo performers. what india achieved after 1983 WC is T20 WC nothing in between a complete lull a hollow period full of demi Gods created by media and none with substance.
Rahul Dravid has been used as a S!ut by the BCCI and Indian cricket team
When Indian team had no opener .. when gan guly himself was not willing to open you used him as opener.
When We had no wicket keeper.. dravid was asked to keep wickets on top of that he was blamed for drop catches but no body appreciated his efforts when he took a brilliant ones When there was no captain let's make him captain From opening to 7 down he was rotated at whims of Indian team.. like a W_h-o-r-e
we talk abt india's performance in 2003 take dravid out of the team and see how vulnerable it looks... - 1 batsman , 1 wicketkeeper, and 4 bowler
If players return from injuries/replacements, the 18 member squad would be Zaheer Khan Pragyan Ojha Yusuf Pathan Sreesanth Romesh Pawar Murali Kartrhick. Parthiv Patel.

The minority quota can accomodate one & that place has gone to Munaf(On merit fortunately). He unfortunately can't make in a gully team otherwise on merit.
Re: Re: about yusuf
by pradeep agarwal on Oct 15, 2009 06:51 PM
He lacks phsical fitness & mental toughness so important for longer version of game.It was surprising to see him in an international side which only BCCI can manage.

So according to you the kind of adnan samis and bappi lahiris can easily play ODIs for that you don't require physical fitness.
