Captains
by Bipul Kumar on May 24, 2009 01:04 PM  | Hide replies

Macullum: He got a divided team, had no clue how to unite it, his poor form didn't help either and at the end failed measurably.
Sachin: He felt too much pressure handling the captaincy, shuffled a settled batting order, dropped shoulders during tense situations, never sounded positive and finally ended up 7th even with a good team.
Warne: He got a real mediocre team. He tried his best but was not enough.
Yuvraj: He did few things right, like trusting his players, trying to get stability in the batting and bowling order. But he lost his temper at wrong periods of play. He never lead by example and narrowly missed out the semies bearth.
Sehwag: He was composed in most part of the game. But his own form never really picked up and then he didn't try to experiment with his playing XI even after qualifing very early and finally paid the price as he didn't have his best XI probably.
Dhoni: He made a mess of a great team with in form players. He always sounded negative, criticized his team even when he himself was not up to the mark. He dropped players just after their 1 bad outing. He remained obsessed with all rounders like Oram and Thusara when players like Hussey and Ntini were on the bench. It's only him to blame for the failure of his team.
Gilchrist: He has some very hard hitters in his team. On their day they can demolish any team. He has done a fair job as a captain and rewarded for the same.
Kumble: Everyone knows what a difference he has made. Outstanding.

macullum - to immature to be captain
Sachin - to old to be captain (though I am 200% sachin fan)
Warne - excellent captain but lack of quality players
Yuvraj - useless, no need to talk
Shewag - Good captain and supported by strong team, unlucky for not to be in final
Dhoni - over confident due torecent success in couple of tour this may lead to his down fall
Gilchrist - Again excellent captain leading from front, has good support in batting dept
Kumble - average captain, has a good team which clicked at right time. Nothing special from him as a captain (like what warne has)

RCB
by Ashwin Kempegowda on May 24, 2009 01:00 PM

RCB is in the finals without a quality fast bowler. Dale Steyn is not fit. Bracken is not fast. Neither Praveen nor Vinay cannot be same on the flat tracks in India.

Mallya should think on bidding on Shane Bond for the next edition once Bond is free from the ICL contract.

Dhoni is culprit.... Played 30 balls to score 28 without any boundaries or sixers. Should have sent Raina first and then he should have come.... dunno what happens to these people.. may be kind of jealousy...

Deccan chargers team for todays match!
by chakravarty devulapalli on May 24, 2009 12:49 PM  | Hide replies

bring in Dwayne Smith for Harris.
bat first (gilly, gibbs, symonds, smith and rohit) should see that the run rate is above 8 at all times until the 15th over irrespective of the loss of wkts.
if batting second, should be able to chase any total.

This would have been a good idea if Dwayne Smith is even a half decent bowler...which he isnt.
DC is weak in the bowling department and dropping another bowler will not do them any good.
Especially if they have to defend a total. Even 200 wouldnt be enough in such a case.

They can drop Gibbs though as he looks out of form. But can Gilly take a chance and drop such a big match player for the final ?
I think it will be a tough call. Gibbs on his day can single handedly win the match for his side and Smith hasnt played for a while and can be rusty.
Look what happened to Hayden. He looked out of touch after having missed a single match.

Why will anyone want that position if Gilli, Gibbs, Symo, Rohit are out. Who will hit in the big shots in the end?? Don't give such generous suggestions.

C'mon yaar, Harris bowled so well against Delhi. He has got pace and hits the deck hard. Dwayne Smith did not prove anything with the ball in the tournament. You cannot take him only for batting.

I agree Harris did well. Dont forget Dwayne Smith won a match for us with his bigh hitting.
I think if u wanna pose a challenge.
U got to attack consistently.
Dhoni faltered for the same reason yesterday.

Yes you cannot risk a genuine pace bowler for an all rounder. It's not all about batting, you need good bowlers in the side. They have only RP and Ojha as genuine bowlers apart from Harris. No one can take that risk.

Manish Pandey is long way in coming to INDIAN TEam, mates he has scorred runs against second rated bowlers, think in international team bowlers and feilders where you can't expect a drop catch @ 2 or sloppy bowling

Yeah, Kholi, Pandey have shown the talent and if they can show consistently and if some one from main team are out of sorts or injured then only they have chance but not right now....
