i posted a decent link with ball by ball commentary of nathan astle's fasterst double century from cricinfo. you guys did not post it. is it some kind of automated editing thing thats filtering stuff or some dump idiots outthere removed stuff at their whims.
Sachin is good but I don't think he stands out as better if we compare him with other great batsmen. Sehwag is much better than Sachin. Just because Sachin talks modestly doesn't make him great. He is just mumbai wala and like india's favorite kid, whatever he does is great and others is not. Think about it Sehwag has like 3 triples,six doubles and what does sachin have? No triple what a shame after playing for 20 years

U FORGOT ABOUT THE STRIKE RATE OF VIRU ...WHICH IS FAR ABOVE THE REST..PLUS HE OPENS THE INNINGS WHICH IS THE TOUGHEST POSITION UNLIKE SACHIN WHO COMES AFTER DRAVID & VIRU HAS LAID THE FOUNDATION OR THE PITCH HAVE EASED OUT

Sewag is really good but dont compare him with sachin... he lacks consistency and no foot work so if u look at his high scores its all in Subcontinent wickets.....so dont just look at the high scores he made and judge or compare but yes in full flow sewag can destroy the opposite team which sachin cannot

1) u r wrong when u say that Sehwag only clicks in sub continents. 2) good scores in sub continents. I think Sachin has played far more matches than Sehwag in sub continents, but still no triple hundred, Indians usually play in sub continents but not even one has a triple hundred 3) no foot work. makes up for it with his hand eye co ordination

I don't know what consistency you are talking about? then you should talk about dravid who is much better than sachin. by the way they all share the same average, who cares about technique when he can produce runs
On his day, Veeru is greater than Sachin at his best. Sachin may have many records to his credit, but not having a triple hundred will haunt him forever. Now it is impossible for Sachin to achieve this feat. ANY COMMENTS?

sachin is the inspiration. the standard against whom everyone ll b judged. many more cricketers will come who ll leave try to overtake sachin and become legends in thr own way but there is one and only one sachin not just for mumbai for whole india.
First he should score 300 to become first person to score 3 triple hundreds. Then think on 400 or even 500. Also they should focus on winning the match.
When Sehwag start playing,We have a feeling that he plays for the Indianvictory nd the rest ofthe players just to make a name for themselves and personal records.

when you compare, compare with peers. There's no point of comparing past with present. When Bradman played, there were many other great batsmen, but none could even cross 60 as ave whereas the Don stood out at almost 100. So, that says it all. Sachin has nothing so extraordinary as against his contemporaries. In fact, he has always batted only at his comfortable position No. 4. Whereas a batsman like Dravid who's ready to even relinquish the no. 3 spot where's the best and open in Tests never gets his due. Nor does VVS, who silently scores double hundreds (remember the last year's double against Aussie, so graceful were his shots) never gets his due. In fact, VVS gets dropped whenever we want 5 bowlers like against Bangladesh whereas Sachin gets to score 248* with 5 lives against lowly Bangaldesh.

eng is not good now. but it wasnt bad during those 30s n 40s. instead they had deadly bowlers remember body line series. can u compare current wi team with team of 70s esp under clive lloyd. zameen aasmaan ka fark he.
Schewg himself admit to lay like Sachin! Brdman told those who missed his batting should see Sachin plays like him! Sachin is a legend. No doubt Schewag is a great player. Let us feel proud that India has some stuff to offer to the world cricket. It may be from VVS or Sachin or Schewag. There is no cricket without statistics and there is no statistics w/o sachin

sachin is an abject lesson for every aspiring youth of India. Forget about his statistics - one shud learn lessons of life from Sachin -not just cricket - but a life to sustain amidst pressures, expectations and not to get affected by criicism. Commitment and consistency and humbleness that younger generation shud emulate.

Very right. No player had the burden of expectaion as Sachin had. Every one says leave Veru alone,but every one wanted to knife Sachin on an failure.Veru plays with not even half the amount of tension on him.No one accepts Sachin's failure. Veru comes in at a time when we have a solid team.Sachin, like Sunny gavaskar has had the burden of the whole team on him. Veru is a different phenomenon.I wish he breaks every record.If he goes like this he may.He is in his current form more explosive than nany one else.Sachin any day is far more solid and complete a player. No comparsions though.As an Indian I am proud of both.

all said are fine, but why did you refer Gavaskar when you talk about Sachin or Veeru? Gavaskar doesn't fit into any of these two categories viz., Sachin or Veeru. Gavaskar just played for himself and retired at his peak. There is nothing more to it.

Even if he played for himself, still he faces Roberts, Marshal, Garner, Lilee, Thomson, Headly, Imran, and many more. He saved many defeats and has won many matches. 13 of his centuries are against mighty West Indians when they were no.1 by a mile as compared to any other country (Without helmets like today's players use). So every era is challenging due to it's own situations. Its better not to compare any sportsperson with other. Viru is one of the best stroke maker and best for his own specialties. So are SMG, SRT, Rahul Dravid, Ganguly, VVS, Kumble, Bhajji, Kapil, Vishwanath, legend trio of spin and whoever did well at personnel level to win pride of team India.
