Return of Jewel Thief.
by TapeshParimalTripathi on Aug 17, 2009 06:08 PM

There was a superhit movie of Evergreen Dev Anand Jewel Thief. After this blockbuster another movie came with Ashok Kumar and Dev Sahab and the name was Return of Jewel Thief. Well this time this movie failed on box office. In the same way Rahul Dravid has come once again. Let see What happens this time.

This is not a rubbish decision at all. We should welcome The Wall and wish India may play good game.

How the hell can you compare MSd/Yuvi n other young guns with the likes of Dravid,Sachin and Ganguly. ther are class apart. ganguly's removal was sad and i really criticize that, but for the sake of one mistake if u committ other same mistakes to make it impartial, den its aa sin.

India needs the wall
by Verghese Carroll on Aug 17, 2009 06:00 PM  | Hide replies

India needs Dravids service. Though our team is filled with young blood but one or two experince players have the abitily to hold these youngsters and guide them in the right direction. And we are not talking of just about 100-150 ODIs its more than 700 ODIs, 25,000 runs of experience (Sachin & Dravid).

Players like Yuvraj, Viru, Dhoni, Zaheer, Bhaji all know how important the senior players are. This decision of getting Dravid back will surely help India for long time. Its more like passing the baton. It's brilliant decision bravo Selectors...

Since Dravid has been out from ODI, many young players have been given chances. I strongly beleive it has been unfair to Dravid to drop him and give chances to players like Jadeja, Vijay, Badri and Rohit.
They are good players, but not deserving enough to replace Dravid, even at this age.
It is good that selecters have corrected their mistake now.

There is a difference...
Ganguly was dropped after not performing good enough for a long time.
But Dravid was dropped just because to give chance to young players.

it is the most appropriate decision to include Dravid. Dhoni is a destiny guy and once he fails to get support from his team mates he drastically fails. In fact, it is time ti introspect the performance of all the players including Dhoni.

Add Gavaskar and Ganguly. your stats will become 1000 ODIs and 1 lakh runs.

Prasanna, be realistic, the team had to be selected from available lot not from the retireds. ok and i guess you dont have cricketing sense, so better you keep your silly mouth shut at least for cricket discussions.

Dravid is Dravid
by Pranav on Aug 17, 2009 06:00 PM  | Hide replies

In Comparison, Dravid is far better than Tendulkar. Dravid has played for the team and won many matches, Tests & One days. Tendulkar, however, has one paper in his pocket mentioning which record to be made, keeps on reading it and batting. The difference in attitude that matters. Dravid plays to win the matches, Tendulkar plays for making records. His recent statement - He wants to make a record of 15000 Runs in Test matches. How funny?

Tendulkar is Tendulkar - Yes - It is true. Nobody else can be so obsessed by Records like Tendulkar. Tendulkar is made bigger than life by the media and the market using him as their brand ambassador. Nothing more.

Sir, there is no comparison between the two legends so better dont contrast on these two. even if you ask Dravid that whos is the best, he will say sachin. nothing more. has anyone stopped dravid or anyone else to score runs? they all scored at their opportunites and records are not like sachin asked the good nations to make him score runs. Aussies, South Africans,WI,England,NZ were scared of sachin, more than ganguly or dravid. and even the greatest Bradman claimed that sachin is the best playing one.

Dravid is not fit for ODIs
by praveen on Aug 17, 2009 05:59 PM

It is disastrous thing to pick Dravid again, Except the world cup held in England,There were no match winning innings of him, he is committed but, his strike rate is poor, doesnt rotate the strike well in ODIs, making the other players take risk. he might be technically strong and fits well for Test Cricket, in Tests also there were instances because of him matches were Drawn.

India is not going to win this cup..
by nkv prasad on Aug 17, 2009 05:59 PM  | Hide replies

you can never win a series, if you ignore your best inform batsmen. Why Virat Kohli is ignored? He is inform and batted brilliantly in the recently held emerging players tourney held in Australia. Are we seriously getting ready for the 2011 world cup? Want to go to world cup with a bunch of veteran players and hoping to win the cup? no way. Dravid's career is over as far as the one dayers are concerned. He found it very hard to get a place even in his T20 IPL team. If you can include Dravid, why not Laxman ? he is doing a great job in english counties? We no more need guys like Dravid, Nehra etc. With the kind of expience Yuvraj, Dhoni etc got, we have enough seniors in the team. If it is really necessary, bring Kumble. He is still the best leggie in India. It is very true that, just 2 yrs before the world cup these ppl are going to screw the team lineup and go with a veteran team to world cup and repeat the 2007 story.

MSD is a fail in last some 1 year or so(if we compare to what MSD we had witnessed 4 years back) and if someone advocates him that he moulds himself according to the situation then i am afraid that in last 1 year or so he dint find a good platform...recently concluded world T20 was an example when india lost 2 crucial games b'coz of MSD's extra slow batting. Now If we talk on dravid, he is far better then other so called 'big guns'. and for your very kind information, Dravid was a huge success in IPL2 to lead his side to finals.

We have no better wicket keeper batsman in India than MSD. But he is no exception if he doens't perform. I agree that it was because of MSD we lost 2 games in T20 WC. He is not a benchmark player in the team.
By the way, it was not Dravid took his team to finals in T20 2009. It was mainly because ofManish Pandey Anil Kumble, Ross Taylor & Manish Pandey.
Dravid scored only 271 runs with an avg of 22.58 and strike rate of 115 in IPL'09 where as he scored 371 run with an avg of 28 in IPL'08. I had enough laughs with your "huge success" tag. what a joke.

What a stupid recall - Dravid the destroyer.
by sethuraman chandrasekaran on Aug 17, 2009 05:58 PM  | Hide replies

Dravid will play 60 or 70 balls for his 6 or 7 runs and kill the one dayer in the best 30 overs. The later order batsmen will perish under pressure to accelerate scoring rate. When so many youngsters are knocking at the dorr one cannot really understand why this 'Loose' Srikant and Company are interested only in a 36 year old man who is certainly, ofcouse a 'wall' between victory and Indian team.
