In the 1st ipl match csk played without albie morkel and ntini because they had played the previous day vs aus.
also dhoni should make the keeping instead of partiv and vijay or any other batsman can make the team stronger.
so definetly changes can be seen the next game.

The Drooped catch
by JGN on Apr 19, 2009 10:25 AM  | Hide replies

The dropped catch of sachin by Hayden nearly paid off for chennai super kings as no team these days like to send sachin back to pavilion it was dhoni who told his players not to get sachin out as he will ruin himself by consuming too many balls, had it not been for Nayar mumbai would have paid dearly for sachins slow batting.

CSK or DSK?
by K Chandru on Apr 19, 2009 09:26 AM  | Hide replies

Are any Chennaiites really attached to this team? Well! I'm not. I may well call this team Dhoni's Super Kings, instead of calling it Chennai Super Kings. Barring the name ofcourse, this team hardly has anything to do with Chennai.

When Flintoff went for 11 an over, Ashwin wasn't called to bowl. Ashwin ended up mere `also ran' in the end. Badri would have been an ideal No.3 (or, No.4) batsman; whereas, he was dropped further down in the order and humiliated. Parthiv was preferred when there was already a WK in the captain himself in the team, ahead of an Aniruddha / Vidyut / Abhinav Mukund.

Even in the poorly made up CSK Ad, only Dhoni, Raina and Joginder are in the forefront and not a Balaji or a Badri.

The owner of the team seems to have no say over the team and I'm sure if it's let to go on like this, Chennaiites would sure lose interest and attachment over the team.

In the context of what's happening and who's the boss, isn't it wise to call this team DSK rather than calling it CSK?

Well said. Nothing Chennai about Dhoni's CSK. No role for talented Vijay, Badri, Balaji, and company.

I wish a foreigner gets appointed as captain for CSK. Things might then start looking better for local blokes.

Does ICL need to be recognized by ICC?
by LG on Apr 19, 2009 09:16 AM  | Hide replies

I firmly believe that answer should be NO.
It is the public that matter most. We have to back ICL to prove the ICL is doing much better job for Indian local players and care more for India and its public.
IPL and Lalit Modi are doing neither for local players nor for India. They are sending public money to outside world.
IPL has announced a big money for SA underprivileged children—good thing—but they have done so far for similar children in India. It is pity that Indian public do not realize it potential power to correct people like Modi.
Wake up Indian Public and root out these people who are no good for India.

Lalit Modi does a sell out - keeps his pride and stroked his ego!
by chakravarty devulapalli on Apr 19, 2009 08:35 AM  | Hide replies

Lalit Modi announced 9mill ZAR for educating SA children. 9milZAR = 1mill USD = 50mill INR. This has to be appreciated. No doubt about that! But have Lalit Modi/Pawar and BCCI ever done anything tangible for the Indian people and the faithful fans of the country? They are just milking the Indian fans.
I think every city in India that a cricket match is staged needs to demand from the BCCI for their development programs!!
Indians are so naive that we dont even know how to ask, what to ask and whom to ask!!
SA simply arm twisted Lalit Modi and this guy generously gives it away to keep his pride and ego intact!!

About Chennai Super King's performance
by Guest on Apr 19, 2009 08:22 AM

I was just wondering why a person in the playing 11, not even tried or utilised, R ASHWIN, the debutant who is supposed to be a spinner (replacement for Muthiah Muralidharan)for CSK and also can be a useful batsman was not given any chance either to bowl or atleast to try out the willow ! may be this would have changed the game at some stage, as only medium pacers or pace bowlers were only bowling, while Jayasuriya and Kumble exelled themselves well in their respective innings

You rightly said, mate. None of the boasted IPL funds go to the 500 million poverty sticken people who are exploited by politicians and these showy sportsmen. For that matter what has the so called Tendulkar done for the poor. People worship him like god, but he is just making money for his own self and future following the footsteps of his guru Gavaskar. Donating to SA poor has become a fashion of the day when more suffering are the poor slum dwellers etc in India. It is not only that they get peanuts but they are being exploited by the western movie makers to show their life to the world and get multiple oscars. I tell you it is all because of the blind followers of these multi millionaire cricketers that I will blame!

Tendulkar sponsors 200 underprivileged children every year through Apnalaya, a Mumbai-based NGO associated with his mother-in-law, Annaben Mehta. He is reluctant to speak about his charitable activities[citation needed], choosing to preserve the sanctity of his personal life despite the media interest in him.[citation needed]
