IPL
by govind gadiyar on Apr 19, 2009 05:52 AM

Dear All

God is kind and merciful. He gave us IPL so we need to watch stupid politicians and TV anchors. Next IPL should be organized outside India. Long live IPL.

I am loving it.

Govind

Getting sick of Ravi Shastri
by myopinion on Apr 19, 2009 04:50 AM  | Hide replies

I used to like his commentary earlier, but now a days it is so boring to listen to his repeated, unnecessary praise of Indians at unnecessary times. He is sounding like his mouth is watery watching our batsmen play. Really getting sick of it. But, I have to agree that he is much better than most of the other Indian commentators.

Mmyopinion, you are right. Ravi Shastri was an ordinary cricketer who is now an ordinary and boring commentator. I feel he is one person who says what he is asked to say---he has been asked to project Dhoni as good captain and he tries every superlative to describe dhoni as captain, so pity of him that he is earning his bread just by licking Dhoni, which has been asked to do by agents/sponsors of Dhoni.

India cements -Pl protect local boys from Dhoni
by GS on Apr 19, 2009 04:42 AM  | Hide replies

Very well said,Dhoni's grudge against Badri is well known also well guarded secret. That guy is killing Badri's career. Both on Indian test side as well as in IPL. Imagine TN captain batting 7 down in a chennai team. wish India cements has some B---s and calls their shots like other owners are doing.
Badri like Dravid is extremely straight bat and needs help with the field being up. I suggested in another post that Dravid must open, same goes for Badri, instead of that silly cross bat Parthiv, if they open with Badri
he really can get the game going.

Honestly and truly as a Chennai fan I rather see Badri open than even Hayden, chennai hardly gets a talent on the international scene so we would love to see our local boys shine. I want chennai fans only to comment on this please. Others you have a lot of your own heroes celebrate them,This by the way is Indian Premier league and I have every right to be as regional as I want.

GS, I had exactly the same complaint. Dhoni is great, but he has consistent bias against giving local players a chance.

Badri at No.3, and perhaps Vijay No. 1 would be ideal. I just couldn't understand with these two around, why Parthiv, who has consistently failed, is asked to open. Neither his strike rate, nor his average is better than Vijay or Badri.

Only two local boys to make to the eleven were Badri and Ashwin. Ashwin, the bowler and No.11 batsment, didn't get to bowl a single ball. Badri, with an average of 50, came 7 down, when all was over. May be we should be contended with the fact that he was allowed to bat before Joginder.

This is in stark contrast with what other IPL captains have done. Every team boasts of a find. Best find of them all is Y. Pathan. Dhoni seems to be trying his best to make sure that Chennai locals don't get the visibility. Or, may be he is just wants to play as safe as possible with players that have some international experience. Warne dropped Kaif. Dhoni needs to learn.

I understated Badri's average. His FC average is 57! He hasn't got a chance to play a single test. Well, leave alone test, no chance to even get a decent position in a local IPL team. Poor guy. In his next birth, he should pray that he is born in Mumbai.

Dhoni was resisting Dinesh Karthik inclusion in Test side to NZ and Stats showed he was right in that. Atleast Parthiv could have made few runs than NEVER-SCORING. Karthik Karthik got so many chances...

MS DHoni ki chaddi utar gayi, lolzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, The important fact is that MS Dhoni is brilliant captain but he is not match winner and India has won most of their matches under MS Dhoni coz of match winners like:

1.Sachin Tendulkar.

2.Gautam Gambhir.

3.Viru Sehwag.

4.Harbhajan Singh.

5.Yuvraj Singh.

Few key players for CSK are missing. IF they join, then CSK will become unbeatable with Dhoni's captiancy. Dhoni alone cannot replace 11 players in the team. Match winners are marching towards CSK but they are different list now.

@ 1st idiot : I am a Sachin supporter as well, but don't sound like a hollow can by demeaning the national captain.. Show some respect mate!!

@ Bala : Face it mate, Chennai lost fair and square to a better team on their day. You can't complain about players not being there with a line up that boasts of Hayden, Flintoff, Oram, Dhoni & Raina... unless you were hoping Chennai could field 13 players ?!?!

Dhoni's logic is baffling
by Anush on Apr 19, 2009 01:48 AM  | Hide replies

I totally agree. I try not to bash someone from one performance. But I certainly think Dhoni has zero confidence over local players.

Vijay (avg: 50) better than Parthiv (avg: 25) for the opening slot.

Badrinath looks similar to Dravid. He needs to bat up the order. He is not fit to be a No.7 like the Pathans, who can hit the ball out of the ground. I remember at last IPL, he promoted Kapugedara ahead of Badri, and Badri was deprived of strike all the time.

Now, does Thushara deserve the overseas slot? Why not use Muralitharan? Why not Morkel?

Aswin, the No.11 batsmen, did not bowl a single ball. Hmm. Why slot in Balaji?

Perhaps Dhoni understands better than me. But, what am I missing here?

You are not missing anything......the South African stalwarts Ntini and Albie morkel just barely reached Capetown after playing against Australia at Jo'berg the previous night.......

nitni could not make it while morkel was physically too worn out to play....don't worry...CSK will be at full strngth from Wednesday onwards when they play their 2nd match....

And i'am sure they will make it to semis......

Mumbai & Chennai (sachin vs dhoni). One has to win... that means the other loses the game... does that mean that the captain failed... and then the captain is destroyed with frantic calls for retirement... failures and abuses... like vultures eating a dead helpless body... ONE TEAM HAS TO LOSE... THAT DOESNT MEAN DHONI OR SACHIN WHOEVER LOSES IS A FAILURE... ITS A GOD DAMN GAME... say if dhoni and sachin would have followed all the suggestions provided here and by TV experts (HOHOHOHO)... do you guarantee that both teams would have won... Its a team that fails man... and it is just one failure or one success... ENJOY IPL... Enjoy watching cricket greats

Dhoni was playing waiting game ??
by Navneeth on Apr 19, 2009 12:42 AM  | Hide replies

Tendulkar and Jayasuriya open - Flintoff is hidden from the new ball !! Was he waiting for them to settle down before bringing Freddie ?

M.Vijay, Balaji and A.Morkel are good enough to play for their national teams not for CSK ? What was Ashwin doing in the eleven ? Balaji better than Joginder any day !

Thushara should have come ahead of Badri and Joginder , where was he ?

End of the day ,Dhoni was ordinary today .Sachin , Hayden , Dravid and Kumble played well today and none of them play T20 for their national team ..who said it is a young man's game ??
