Right decision made for dravid
by anshul sharma on Oct 28, 2007 12:13 PM  | Hide replies

If u see the performance of dravid in the last 10 matches (infact more) he has been consistently giving a POOR performance so i think it was the right decision to take dravid off the team.
n people dont compare SACHIN with dravid..sachin has been giving a stable performance if u see the last 10 matches he has played

It is good to give the players a break for good reasons. If Dravid was offered the break to improve his performance, he should have been in cluded in the challenger trophy to regain his confidence.
Mr. Vengsarkar has to be a bit more straight with good intentions if he really wishes to make a mark.

why was dravid dropped?
by eyeOpener on Oct 28, 2007 12:07 PM

because he consistently refused to dance to vensgsarkar tunes in selecting powar, he has been punished by vengsarkar misusing his powers.
BCCI proves it is still a corrupt organisation.

...Good decision but...
by VancouverPunekar on Oct 28, 2007 12:06 PM

This makes a bold statment if you dont score for too long you dont get to stay be it even one of the best batsmen around...
...10 matches with less than 10 avg...that doesn't impress at all..

But Dravid should come back for matches overseas where good technique is vital...england, austrailia, SA etc...

This is a good ODI team especially on a flat sub continent tracks ....

Rohit Sharma would be good replacement for Dravid for now, he has good technique and seems to be a kind of player who plays balls as per merrit. He has shown it, that he can score quicker. And his agility in the field and part time bowling option will be a bonus.

I couldn't see any commitment from many young players in the going tournament...
No great fielding or clever bowling...

Dravid rightly dropped

Dont compare dravid with Sachin.Sachin never got such a poor average of less than 10 in any of the 10 conseuctive matches in his career.
People blame sachin as if he fails in every crucial match. What about dravid's performance in those matches.I mean the crucial matches like WC finals? Why Dravid could not win the match for us instead of Sachin (for a change)????

Considering his career SR of 70 in ODI his average of 37 is not justifiable at all while considering the number of balls that he wasted in ODI format.

Tendulkar and Sachin are masters of their kind. They have carried the Indian hopes for years together with Ganguly. Can anyone imagine of a team touring Australia without the big three. Not even Mr. Vengsarkar can do tht in the present situation. All these hues n cries are just Gimmicks to show tht the selection committe is independent and under no pressure.

Every Indian knows the facts, the only confusion would be regarding the selection criteria (if there is something like tht).

When it comes to winning matches in ODI or Teset matches, It is clear that Dravid is a better player than Sachin in India.. Please check the Stats Guru in Cricinfo..
As for as Stats there is no doubt Sachin is greatest in World Cricket. But Stats cannot win matches, it is only determination that can win matches, I am very sure Sachin is Zero in that, I wont say Dravid is great in that aspect, but the best we have in India.

Tendulkar have scored more than 10,000 ODI runs under winning circumstances with 29 centuries in wins. In won ODI games, Tendulkar have scored almost the total amount of runs scored by Dravid in his entire career.
