Sreesanth is spoiling the name of India!!
by Bhasmasur on Oct 16, 2007 04:04 PM

Look at the way the Aussies conduct themselves on the field of play...have you seen any Aussie cricketer abusing Sachin, Dravid or Kumble??

But tyros and novices like Sreesanth are abusing icons of the game like Ponting and Gilchirst...it is so shameful and sad...that the young generation with earrings and tatoos does not know how to respect the greats of the game!!

Atleast the Aussies know how to respect Sachin, Dravid and other greats.. our guys don't know how to respect Ponting and Gilichirst...real shame!!

Sreesanth is a blot on the name of cricket and is bringing the game into disrepute!!

Cricket with Australia

Well by writing and reding this type of articles we should not forget that crikert is a game played by kids small or big. In this situation player should be allowed to do whatever they want to do within the frame work of game as media writers like to write on any issue. Most important thing is to play together and try to win.Thats all? If game is good and entertaining rest of the things will be done by rest of the people.

whose game is it anyway
by on Oct 16, 2007 04:00 PM

mindgames are part of any sport and at most levels (even juniors)..cricket always has been under more scrutiny beause of the media exposure and the resultant fallout (positive & negative) for the players...Aussies are always known to play any sport hard..from the days of the chappel brothers, waugh brothers, warne and now ponting and team...most of the other teams at some point or the other have tried to ape the way the play, quite unsuccessfully. No one call recall the windies under Clive lloyd indulging in such tactics, they let their agne do the talking (in most cases the ball). Imagine a match between the current Aussie team and Clive's men...dont think the Aussies will indulge in the mind games, they would be too busy trying to figure out the on field problems..each team should play to their strenghts...and not adapt any other style..let the game do the talking...

Shut up Sree
by Sunil Gangadharan on Oct 16, 2007 03:59 PM

Prem has covered most aspects of the atmosphere in which the current series is being played. I feel his comments are fairly balanced.

The Aussies are no saints and the entire cricketing world knows that. They have even proved to be terrible losers. They are however extremely competitive, combative and above all truly professional cricketers who can raise the level of their game at will. Lets face it they are with out a shadow of doubt the number one team in the world. Taunting them makes them play better.

Our guys are neither good at sledging nor at playing the game of cricket and when they sledge they forget to perform. The BCCI team should concentrate on playing cricket and perform with bat and ball because that is what they are paid to do. Shut up India and perform

Indians need to learn mental games!
by Abhay T on Oct 16, 2007 03:58 PM  | Hide replies

Every team more or less uses sledging to unsettle a batsman. It is ridiculous to say that because Aussies do it , we can do whatever we want! When a players "reacts" to sledging and looses his control, he is showing a signs of weakness. Sreesanth's performance is near the bottom just because of such behaviour. Although he took 9 wickets, his economy rate is worst among full time bowlers. None of that was a match winning performance and India's only win because of tight bowling was when Sreesanth was not in the team. This is in contrast with 11 each wickets from Hogg and Johnson. It doesn't matter who says what. He has to concentrate on bowling while playing mental games. This is what some young members are doing. Ganguly, Sachin, Dravid their style of playing mental games. Ganguly was one of the best in playing mental games. But, he never showed such behaviour directly. Similarly, when you can back your performance with whatever you say/do to opponent member, it makes real difference. For example, yuvi against England and Prasad against Amir Sohail. In those cases, such behaviour can unnerve opposite team. But in case of Sreesanth, it only ends up in his own poor performance. Indian players need to learn the art of mental games and not just how to hit the headlines.
