I can see some narrow minded unsporting Dravid fans here...
by ammar on Nov 06, 2007 12:15 AM  | Hide replies

These fans can't stomach the fact that Ganguly is in team and made a fighting 40 on a difficult wicket so he will be there for rest of series..
They also can't stomach the fact that sourav has been so consistent in the last one year..and Dravid the Wall has been breached....

So, they distort facts and indulge in blatant misinformation like "Ganguly dropped 3 catches"....losers!!

Let us invite all the oldies back...
by Alok Sharma on Nov 06, 2007 12:12 AM  | Hide replies

Cricket is supposed to be a young man's game, so what these 35 year olds are doing in it???!!! Even Aussies got sick of seeing Steve Waugh and forced him to retire even though, he himself wanted to continue for couple of years more. And remember, he scored 80 runs in his last innings. But he had to go and make way for younnger people. Selection committee in India ought to be doing that also, but doesn't really have the guts to do that. So, if you cannot blood the younger players, I recommend that you invite all the oldies of the era gone by. How about having S. Gavaskar, Kapil Paji, Mohinder Amarnath, B.S. Bedi in the team? If nothing else, it will be wonderful nostalgia. I am sure they will field as well as Tendulkar/Ganguly if not better...

True,
And have Gambhir play?Consecutive easy catches-had they been taken,Gambhir again out for 9 or 13.
Uthappa-beaten 4 times by Akhtar in a over.He is surviving as he does not have to face the swinging balls, and slogs in the death overs. If and when he will open,Utappa will be OUT!

Sehwag had his good times, but he was lucky as his hits would go over the fielders, but now he has been figured out, so he is out, same with Uthappa and other young players, once the oppsition figures them out, they are all done.

Dude dont underestimate the youngsters only if u give them chances can they become tendulakrs and dravids. U must remember that dravid got plenty of chances to prove that he can play in one days

He is batting very well, unlike Gambhir who is backed by Dhoni and was lucky that 3 chances did not end up in cathes.

But Dada has to improve his fielding/running between the wickets.

Agree that batsmn like Cowdrey,Simpson,Bedser,Bradman,Inzy,Laxmab could not save their lives for their fielding but were great bats. But Dada has to run singles better.

Ofcourse he is a batter bat than all the juniors, and batting is more heavier than just fielding, we dont want Kaifs in the team who caonly field and run.

Ganguly is better than that "WALL" who scored 12 runs in 96 balls at the Oval when the need of the hour was quick runs.....now wasn't that selfish batting??
If Dravid had scored faster on an easy wicket, we could have declared earlier and could have won the series 2-0 instead of 1-0..

I'll say that it was Dravid's pussilanimous captaincy and weak batting that cost India a rare test victory on foreign soil...

It is believed that Vengy cannot forgive Dravid for that serious lapse...and he is right...victories on foreign soil are very rare for India and each opportunity needs to be grabbed!!

Match Report.....
by sudhir dhar on Nov 06, 2007 12:03 AM

SRT- Still the best part time bowler for India!
Done in by a bad decision by the umpire!
Dada- Better improve fielding, dropped Yusuf, who scored 84, bad!
Great batting, but running was LOUSY, get it right dada, in Australia(if selected), you cant run like this!
Gambhir-2 easy chance on consecutive deliveries, if they were taken,Gambhir's poor ODI form would have continued.Dhoni is prefering you to Sehwag, so you are lucky, but Dhoni cannot bat for you!
Dhoni- Bad captaincy during fielding!
Good batting!Threw away wicket on a rank bad ball.
YUvraj- great batting, but again holing out in the deep.Yuvraj, dont sacrifice wicket, stay till the end!
Uthappa-Beaten 4 times by Akhtar. His weaknes is out.Right now Dhoni is shieldig him from the swinging ball, by giving him middle order slot, and he slogs. But if he has to open, he will falter again.
Zaheer- Lost again?
Bhajji- great bowling!
Karthik-great bowling
Pathan-What happened?
RP Singh-not the same, but bowling in the death is difficult,he bowled well at the start.
UV- Great batting!

Ganguly is selfish
by Imran on Nov 05, 2007 11:46 PM  | Hide replies

Ganguly as can be seen after his comeback is just playing to keep his place in the team. He is a very shrewd guy and knows what needs to be done to stay in the team just score 30-40 runs in 2 or 3 innings its enough for the selctors. If they can drop dravid why not ganguly.
