that was 1979 wc...lol...i agree sunny was no doodh ka dhula but neither was kapil...kapil got a whole bunch of mediocre northies into the team when he was captain..like gopal sharma, sanjeev sharma, rajinder singh ghai and so on...

but u gotta admit both sunny and kapil were geniuses and indian cricket icons...

You should have seen the way Kumble behaved with Pietersen in England when he accidentally collided into Kumble..

lol...whoeva is talking abt whether he can win or not...and u still expect him to win us a w.cup alone...that indirectly shows ur respect for him..w.cups are won by teams not individuals..look at his stats in 1996 and 2003 wcups..if team had played half as good as him both the w.cups would have been ours...and look at any sport...for any sport to become popular we need icons like sachin..btw how old are u..were u around when sachin made cricket a religion in india by his own effort...

For all ganguly fans quoting stats
by Ravi Kumar on Nov 06, 2007 12:25 AM  | Hide replies

Correct your stats. Give the strike rate also. More importantly, remove the runs conceded by him due to sloppy fielding, useless running between the wickets and idiotic judgement of runs (Converting 3 to 2 and 2 to 1).

Do all this and give the stats. I am sure the average would be less than zero, with a strike rate of minus 70. ha ha

Like dravid, he also has to be shown the door immediately

For stats mad Dravid fans!!
by ammar on Nov 06, 2007 12:23 AM  | Hide replies

Test cricket is supposedly Rahul Dravid's forte...okie, so i have taken two recent foreign tours to SA and England....

3 tests in SA and 3 tests in England....

Dravid in SA : 32, 1, 11, 5, 29, 47
Dravid in England : 2, 9, 37, 11no., 55, 12

Totally 251 runs in 6 tests at an average of 22.8

Ganguly in SA : 51no., 25, 0, 26, 66, 46

Ganguly in England : 34, 40, 79, 2no., 37, 57

Total of 463 runs at an average of 46.3

So, this is the reason for Dravid fans to indulge in character assasination of Ganguly...simply can't accept the fact that Ganguly has handled pressure better than the WALL..
Did i hear someone say the WALL has been breached?? You bet!!

You are primariy selected for batting or bowling so don't carp about fielding...Dravid is not a great fielder neways!!

ammar,

Criticising Ganguly doesn%u2019t mean supporting Dravid.
Like Dravid, Ganguly also shall be shown the door. He is playing too selfishly.

After Ganguly it should be Sachin (I am not sure if Mumbai mafia in BCCI allows it

Whenever Ganguly failed India lost
by suman das on Nov 05, 2007 10:55 PM | Hide replies

In 27 matches in the year 2007 Gangulys statistics look like below :

M Runs H.S Avg. 50s
27 1070 98 46.52 11

When Ganguly could not score a descent one India has lost except 1 match (miracle win by Karthick & Zaheer Khan in 7th ODI against Australia).

What this suggest ? It suggests that Ganguly is still the back-bone of India in ODI

Whenever Ganguly failed India lost

Wow, dude, ganvhir and Uthappa[who is hiding in the middle order as he cant play swing], cant play swing.
BTW see todays match Gambhir gave 2 easy chabces of Akhtar and Uthappa was beaten 4 times in a ove of Akhtar.....

I can see some narrow minded unsporting Dravid fans here...
by ammar on Nov 06, 2007 12:15 AM  | Hide replies

These fans can't stomach the fact that Ganguly is in team and made a fighting 40 on a difficult wicket so he will be there for rest of series..
They also can't stomach the fact that sourav has been so consistent in the last one year..and Dravid the Wall has been breached....

So, they distort facts and indulge in blatant misinformation like "Ganguly dropped 3 catches"....losers!!
