Dada should have been made the captain of Twenty20. He is the best. Very intelligent cricketer and aggressive. Dada fears no one.

Exclusion of Kaif is justified.
by Mohit Singhal on Aug 07, 2007 11:28 PM

itz a very gud selection...exclusion of mohd. kaif is absolutely justified , u cant take neone into team just on d base of his fielding , he has been given plenty of chances .
we ol must congrats selectors for such gud combinations.

Yurvraj is a much senior player. Why they did not make him captain? Does not seem right.

What "cricketing brains and leadeship qualities" had Dhoni shown in his very young cricket career that you think makes his better than Yuvraj (at being a captain)?

You are right Anand but don't you think that first important thing is automatic selection in the team and in that way, Yuvraj stands clear than Dhoni. Dhoni's wicket keeping is horrible in this English tour. He may not be an automatic selection in the future if he doesn't improve. Moreover you haven't given a chance to Yuvraj, so you can't say he is not good. He may not be good but he could have been tried first. Remember after the world cup debacle, everybody was talking about Yuvraj not Dhoni. So this decision is definitely surprising. Don't you think so??? Of course, this is India, anything can happen, when the team has no coach and the BCCI is a joking material, what more you can expect from them anyways!!!

kaif??? where is he? selectors listen to me
by dipesh bothra on Aug 07, 2007 10:38 PM  | Hide replies

Md. Kaif saving 25 runs a match on an average (any arguments??? ) and does anyone understand 25 runs in a 20 over match ??? he is no mug with bat , he can definitely play cameos which are more imp in 20 20 match where u dont need innings where initially u need to settle down... there is no start and end.. its all start and all end... so i guess Md. kaif would be in top5 of any one's choice what would agrkar do? he is not that good enough at bowling too... virendra shewag isa blaster but he has failed for more than a year even he is no mug with bat... so if he can get chance after more than a year's bad patch md.kaif deserves a chance and he should get... selectors please do listen to me

Wasnt he given enough chances my friend??? When opportunity knocks at your door, you should grab it with both hands. Watch Mike Hussey and how he became such an important person in a team like Australia

why don't you guys understand everyday is not sunday & every person has some bad patches. If kaif would had been really worst then how could he make the team bring under 18 world cup home.
He needs a chance & why you forget the amazing knocks and match winning games. As far as fie;ding is concern tell me who other than kaif can dive and make a glorious catch. Is not this catch imprtant for 20-20 games.
Any queries?

Fielding and catches are not important in one day internationals and 20-20 matches. Even if the team scores 100 runs in 20 overs without losing wickets it does not matter. But think of 200 runs scoring in 19.5 overs with all batsman out. which is good in 20-20. Use your brain. Kaif is utter waste. Just plain no. Even against Zimbabwe team he did not perform. where as Badrinath scored 100 not out. On what basis you guys want kaif to be in the team

I don't understand why people are concerned about the omission of Kaif from the team. Kaif fits more for the longer version. True that he fields well but on fielding alone he can not be in the team. When it comes to increasing the run rate Kaif is a struggler. Selectors have done fairly good job in selecting players for the two versions. The only worry may be inclusion of Agarkar in 20-20 team. In batting except lofting he does not know any other stroke while as bowler he is unpredictible. Age is also not on his side. For 20-20 game players age should not exceed 25 years. Harbhajan is very unlucky to be chosen for 20-20 instead of ODI. He will be finished in South Africa this time.

my friend, ICC only said 20-20 international world cup. not 202-20 under 25 international world cup. What is age has to do with performance. As long as one is able to score 50 runs in less than 40 balls, he can be even 60 years old. Do you mean to say gilchrist, ponting, hayden, hussey should not be in the team. AGE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CRICKET. Only performance matters

Ramoo, If you go by your logic of not selecting anyone over 25 for the 20-20 team then Dhoni, Yuvraj, Sehwag, Harbhajan would not be in the team. Generally younger players adapt well but there cannot be an age limit for this. What you need is players who are extremely fit.Look at Aus, most of the players are in mid 30s but still extremely fit.

I am amazed as to how this pearl caleed Bombay Duck (Ajit Agarkar) manages to be in both the team afer being a tour passenger ofr ouver 2 months. Is BCCI funding him from a lifestyle fund. Can they tell us how to apply for the same.

Agarkar's record in 2007
AB Agarkar (India) 11(matches) 101.0(overs) 10(Maidens) 435(Runs) 16(Wickets) 27.18(Average) 4.30(Economy) 37.8(Strike rate). Only zaheer has performed better. What else reason you need for including agarkar in the team. Do not talk plain crap. Know whats happening in cricket before talking. Agarkar is selected based on bowling. it does not matter if he gets out without scoring as long as he does his primary job perfectly.Bellow is pollock bowling record in 2007. Compare and tell me how bad is agarkar compared to pollock 18(matches) 134.0(Overs) 18(Maidens) 464(Runs) 17(Wickets)27.29(Average) 3.46(Eco) 47.2(Strike Rate)
