Indian Cricket back to square 1
by Major Rangachar on Feb 06, 2006 09:59 PM

Dear Editor

Your heading is very right.Unless the selectors pack the team with Allrounders in the team,India will not perform.Even if the team perform,Consistency will not be there.
Following players must be shown door.No other Player in our cricketing history has got chances as much as Agarkar. In his place a Geniune allrounder must step in.
Look at the balance of Pak team, except for Salman,Inzy, yusuf,Yunis all are allrounders.we need Shoibs/Razaks as Shastry,Madanlal,Binny & gavri.
Cant selectors locate 2 more Ifrans in a country of 1 billion.
Till such tinme India finds Balance, team keeps loosing & post mortems keep continuing.Personal records keep piling & media keeps projecting Individuals.
Ultimately Teams shd win, need not hv great names. That is the moral of the lesson

Shame to journalism...
by Pankaj on Feb 06, 2006 09:26 PM

I think all the journalists are back to the square one...specially Mr. Lavarekar. I think these players need some respect. Entire country went after Ganguly (I am not a fan either but I dont hate him). He is in bad form doesnt mean he doesnt deserve respect. Now Sachin failed in Pak series people are after him. Who is next? Dravid? Yuvraj? or Pathan?

We are building team for 2007 world cup. Give them some time. One series doesn't decide anything.

You should stop writing these stupid senseless columns. Get some real job dude...leave our cricketers alone. They are trying to do something worthwhile. What if they lost a test match and even a closely fought One day last night?

STOP WRITTING.....You are a shame to journalism. If we collect all your columns it will be a nice comical reading for people...you just cannot make up your mind. Pity!!!!

Indian Cricket back to squre one

Are bhai lavara mat karo LAVARAKER saab, talk is cheap (or free). I don't think you ever played any cricket and I doubt if you even know what cricket is. Your attemt to gain attention by trashing Indian team is really pathetic. I challenge your brain to write something good about the Indian team (it is not a fluke that it is ranked #3 in the world).

Prem you have gone mad.If Indian players play well you keep them all time high one bad performance you dig them down.
Prem you are an flickery minded ...i dono what to say.
Indian team is on a role these days. The Karach i test was a blunder and the full credits to the Pakistan team, but the one dayer today was a good one.18 balls 18 any thing would have happened.
You never know in cricket Sir.
Prem first learn the game and then write your comments and use common mans words in your articles.

Why does Rediff pay these guys
by max on Feb 06, 2006 07:18 PM

Why does rediff pays these guys....for coming up with such nonsense ??

Please put in some thought and write something sensible :) You guys are professionals and should not let your personal views or imaginations come into the way of truth :)

I would recommend that writers like this reporter should start Fiction writing! They are already good at it :)

Shut up !!.
by Manoj on Feb 06, 2006 07:12 PM

Dear Reporter,

Are you a cricket expert?

In a game only one team can win. You can't expect India to win all the matches. Journalist like you loves to criticise just to remain in limelight.

2nd part of the msg:

The wicket to be used would be decided on the morning of the match by a committe of adminstrators, selectors, coaches, BUT EACH TEAM WILL HAVE TO PLAY ONCE ON A PARTICULAR PITCH!! Same format should be applied for the Duleep trophy also!!

In addition, each player regardless of stature, will have to play a minimum of 5 Ranji trophy matches before the Quarterfinal stage.. and in addition will have to spend a minimum of 100 Hours at the NCA to hone his skill!! NCA instructors will be former players considered to be Masters of their profession!! For Example: Gavaskar will teach openers how to play the fast bowlers, The spin Quartert will teach spinners how to bowl, former fast bowlers of repute (read: Lillie, Holding, Roberts, Akram, Younis etc..) will be brought in to teach our "pace" bowlers how to bowl, both in Test Match/One-day format!! Get the best wicket-keepers like Ian Healy, Kirmani etc.to teach wicket-keepers..get some middle order batsmen to teach how to play spin..

I would even go to the extent of getting Under-19 players & groom them young.. FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, PLEASE NO POLITICS, REGIONALISM, NEPOTISM..Each player will be graded by instructors.

Indian cricket back to square 1

This article is spot right on!!!

Yes, we need to think long-term!! Look at Australia, they have 2-3 people in every position to heelp them be No.1.. and they keep rotating them in the series!! They even rest up seniors, withour any qualms.. Imagine, resting some of senior players in the Indian team and all hell will break loose!!

Come to think of it, I have the following suggestion, and it starts from the domestic cricket.

Let's take the famous Ranji trophy which are played on dead tracks where 1st inning lead is the precursor for a win!! Instead of playing 4 days withour result, why not play 5 days.. In addition I have the following suggestion:

1. At the Quarterfinal stage, I would like them to play a round robin format.

2. Each center should have either 2 of the following pitches:

(a).A batsmen's paradise - this help our bowlers to bowl at the proper length/line

(b).A fast bowlers dream - full of grass where even military medium bowler is menacing!! This will help our batsmen to bat!!

(c).A spinner's dream - where the ball turn square from the 1st ball!! This will equip our batsmen to play spin!!

(d).A wicket for everybody!!

Cont'd in the next msg...
