Boss honestly he does not find a place in the middle

order which all of us should accept. But for his captancy he must have been dropped 2 years back. The mistake selecters have done is picking him in the first place

Gung Ho about Ganguly's Axe
by Dhananjay Parchure on Dec 16, 2005 07:43 PM

Dear Sir,

I completely agree that current outster of Ganguly was not warranted after his performance at Kotla. however, now i would like to ask all bengal people, the leftiest and the parliament as to why those same people were sleeping when Sandeep Patil was droped for ever after a somewhat similar performance against England on the same very ground? You are siting the averages, do you remember one Vinod Kambli who averages above 50 in a test cricket and still was not picked for any of the major overseas assignments? If these people stand for principle, I should have heard there anguish at dropping of above two equally talented (if not more) batsmen? Unfortunately, regionalism is coming to the fore. Do you want me to put in a list of mumbai players who have been very wrongly been neglected over the years in spite of brilliant performances over the years? The list begins with most unfortunate paddy shivalkar, abdul ismail right down to lalchand rajput, raju kulkarni, vinod kambli etc. Rajput was not selected in spite of scoring double ton against kapil led north for ausi tour in 1985.
I am afraid when mumbai speaks it is regionalism else its logic. I beg to differ

Ganguly outster

Ganguly's outster from the Indian Team has become a major issue. It is now going to be discussed in the Parliament also. I agree with it because if someone takes such a decision without any fear and afterthought, it is the duty of the people's representatives to take up the matter at the highet level. It would be more easier for them especially when a cabinet minister is the BCCI President. I would like them to call the selectors on the floor of Parliament and ask for explanation for two things. If they have included an opener why Ganguly was axed when he is a middle order batsman ? Even if so, how Jaffer can be compared to Ganguly. Ganguly is a world class player and he has won many matches for India. Even in the last test match against Sri Lanka his performance was not so bad. Yet he got the axe, why?
How many matches Kiran More has won for India? Mr. Dhoni has won on his own some matches for India during his short career but I can't remember a single Match which More has won for India. Such a standard player is now at the helm of Indian Selection Committee. What a pity and how unfortunate we the millions of cricket lovers in India.
