Give him a break
by Sourav Sengupta on Sep 24, 2004 11:15 PM

He's not your favorite cartoon on TV.. who keeps makin you laugh!.. he's a human being.. human beings get tired.. there's wear and tear.. he cannot be 16 yrs old all the time.. he's a father now.. so chill man.. guess king is still Viv.. doesn't matter.. Tendulkar is Tendulkar and will always stay the same to us.. he might fail like he has before.. its only human to fail.. so stop betting on him like he's your favorite horse in the derby!.. its childlike..

Tendulkar of Old

I absolutely disagree with author's comments about Tendulkar's change in style over past 4yrs.

Remember cricket is a Team Game. You cannot win if the Team loses. How can you say that Sachin won by scoring 70 runs in Sharjah against Australia, when India lost the game ??

Today, this is the most depressiing situation with our Team. India bagged the most ICI Oscars (for individual performances) however, as a Team we failed miserably with our un-predictable poor performances. This shows that all our players play for individual performances and not for the Team. The author of this article actually wants Sachin to follow the same !! This is absolutely wrong. We want Sachin's performance to win matches for india...not just individual runs or give you a pleasure to watch him!! If the audience really wants to get pleasure by "watching" him....then they need to watch his net -practice. Sachin should play to win the match. If he has to change his style....so he should. Cricket is more of a chess game rather than hitting boundaries and sixes on every ball. Look at the Austarlians....they are the world champions....while we Indians get Man-of Series award for Sachin !!

Indian cricket- Team India or Team Saurav
by vijay on Sep 24, 2004 11:00 PM

Team India or Team Saurav is something i will discuss about and its for u readers to decide whether iam right or wrong. The so called Team India has had a great cricketing season from the past 2-3 yrs.Beating the aussies at home, the drawn test series in australia,is no doubt a great achievement.

So sourav beign given credit for everything isin't correct .A lot of credit should go to the coach john wright its he who has made the Team India, its as if he has no say in the team. what the indian sides of the pastlacked was young players like kaif n yuvraj, who play their heart out on the field,n players like sehwag who can hit the ball anywhere out the the ground,n bowlers like pathan, zaheer etc.Indian team wins because the whole team is playing well.I have read saurav n others commenting on the batting of sachin that he should alter his style in accord to the team situation, well it wouldn't be wrong to say that the captain himself should get some batting practice looking at his performance. Its good to see a Captain whos outspoken but the importantting is playing well.Look atVaughan he is calm n collected n the England team has done gr8 i think saurav has something to learn from him.

Role-change

Exhautsive 'views' by Sriram.

I look at the article as what Mr. Sriram 'wish' to see Sachin play. But the important thing is the way Indian team want Sachin to play. If his responsibilty is changed to play for full fifty overs, then naturally he can't blast the bowlers he used to, five years back. Now this is handled by Sehwag. But I would like to mention the recent incidence, when Sehwag was out of form, Sachin took the lead and initiative. Same way in WC match against Pakistan.

The point is for we enjoying him thwart the bowlers does not solve purpose of the team.

Same as Sachin, Dravid prefers not to keep, but keeps for team's purpose sake.

That's why it's called a Team Effort.

The thing even I miss.... Sachin hitting Warne, Kasprowikz over the head :-))

I agree
by Geethakrishnan Balasubramanian on Sep 24, 2004 10:18 PM

I have been talking to my friends the same exact content that you wrote. My friends argue to see at Tendulkar's average and scores for the last 3 years. But my concern is Tendulkar's aggressive batting is lost. Can we see him back?

Thanks for bringing out my concerns to the WWW,

-BGK
