I think that Rahul Gandhi can turn around the Congress fortunes in UP as he seems to be sincere and also very intelligent. Also his lineage will help a lot as his family has been closely associated with the state for many decades. He should first identify a good team to assist him in this job and also work closely with the UPCC to bring back the minorities and OBC's back into the Congress fold along with the other castes. He is young/ educated and clean. This will help him in getting the youth active in Congress in UP and also bring energy into the party. I wish him the very best.

I am strong supporter of Congress, and I do believe that Rahul has got it in him to do justice to Congress.Mr. Dichpally, everything is fine about statements but do the congress think that Indians are idiots. We believe in only development, and do please dont question our intelligence. We understand that caste is important only during marriage proposals. Development doesnot require OBS, SC, ST and other stupid catagories. Lets fight with development and please reach the grass and do development. Stop bitching about Categories.......

For god sake, people please stop caste politics. By dividing people on the base of caste, we have done enough for our country. Now start thinking about the real problem with UP and please think about its progress.
I request you everybody there, folks from various parties, from various caste, from various religion, please work together to bring back the old glorious days of Uttar Pradesh.

Rahul is well educated ...but being fourth gen of Gandhi Nehru family makes him very vulnerable to criticism of family rule.
He must also try to act quickly on big issues like displacment of Kashmiri Pandits , Mandal and Ramjanmabhoomi , to go after mainstream Hindu votes. Congress suffers from minorityism and lack of any national approach. Referring Kashmir to UN and loosing lands to Pak are the so called achievements.
He must go out of way to build friendship with large opposition parties for cordial implementation of democracy despite the differences.

I fully agree with capability. He has the potential to lead this country by his blood and ofcourse his education and exposure. He only can bring back the congress regime again. Both politicians and bureaucrat have to extend their real support to succed.

Ok... let me get this straight! We are discussing the future of the Congress and its projection of Rahul Gandhi as a possible future leader of the Indian people. That's fine by me!! Anyone can lead the Indian people. We have seen several people come and go, at posts as high as that of the Prime Minister's, but have we seen someone really come up and grab attention by doing the right thing? Oh, I do apologize... In politics, it's always debatable what the "right thing" really is! On that note, Mr. Rahul Gandhi, I would like to see you present a public proposal on what your future plans are. I want to hear what you want to do, once you become the leader of the Nation! To hammer in the point, I want to see what your views are on the following issues: 1. Reservations in Government Positions and Technical and Non-Technical Education Institutions. Is there ever going to be an implementation of the Mandal Commission's guidelines to remove the reservations after the required gestation period? 2. What are your plans to control the population of India? This is the first and foremost reason why we're still struggling. I have other issues as well, but let's hear about these things first...

In a country of 1.25 billion, a leader has to have outstnding values and virtues such as good education, contribution to society and social work, working with the common man for the common cause, etc to lead the people and to become a true Leader. In the 21st Century, people cannot be fooled by the pseudo-leaders who claim the position using their birth right i.e. being a son of a Leader or being a grand son of a leader.
