Rishi, All separatist problems that assume geo-political scale start as socio-political problems. You correctly pointed out that Bangladesh did not become a secular left leaning state that India expected it to be. The issue is not whether we should help break up of Pakistan, but how should India plan its foreign policy taking into consideration the possibility that Pakistan might break up under its own weight. The consequences for India are huge. We don't know how the nuclear arsenal in Pakistan is spread across regions. NWFP has a border with Kashmir. It's worthwhile to publicly debate about our policy in light of these factors.
