Rafi is the undisputed king and there are no questions about that. Regarding not giving enough chances to other singers like Mukesh, Manna Dey or Mahendra Kapoor, I totally disagree with the article. How did Kishore make it big then. I would say they would (no disrespect to them) have penetrated the scene and made it big like Kishore did. The versatility, the range and depth of Rafi was unmatched and still continues to be.
To say anything about Rafi Sahab is just like showing a lamp to Sun.
Rafi Sahab undoubtedly was the King of all Singers of his tim. His beautiful melodious voice will always keep on spreading its magic alaround its listner fans/lovers. CAN ANYONE FORGET These songs sung BY RAFI SAHAB
- Hum apni Azadi do ko hargiz mitasakte nahi.... - Saathi haath badhana .. - Meri Awaz suno..... meine ek phool jo seeny se.. - Zara sun aye haseenaye nazneen... - Jo unki tamanna hia barbaad hoja to aye - Mili Khaak mein muhabbat.. - Zara sun aye haseena e nazneen mera dil tujhi pe...
how many , howmany ... innumerable songs .. and each has its own magic style and the speciality was that the voice used in the each song sung by Rafi Sahab matched the songs theme, the movies hero.
Honouring him for what he deserved is in itself an honour for one. Regardless what one thinks about it his songs will always remain in the this world as precious jems far all times.
Somehow if some people did not like ... does that matter ??? a poet says
" Kuch log hum se nakhush wo bezaar hai to kyaaa Har kisi ka pasandeeda yahan pe kaun hai"
Undoubtedly, Mohd. Rafi saab is best of all singers. He is no.1 . He is just par excellent than all other singers. Indian govt should award a Bharat ratna to Rafi saab..
rafi sahab is the best singer india ever had...we as indian should be proud of him, many people here in canada listen to his songs...he made a great impact on peoples life
who says thta he did not get due .there is no music shop without his c.ds and cassatees there is hardly any music compition where his songs are not sung.i have been his fan through out my life.we love him and respect him.he still lives in every indians heart thtas the greatest due we could give to him.he was much above than ur raciest remarks.
M. RAFFI saab lives in our heart he don't need more than that recognization. people of India has a great respect and we cannot forget his voice. He was and he is the best. Stop playing dirty games around respected celebrities, that is also from Bangladeshis. May be that bangladeshi thinks appreciation comes with awards not from the heart of people. There are many Indian actors who have done so much in cinema yet not received any film fare awards. What about that. Common sick mind take some peel and get better.
Thank you for a great article. I liked this article because it speaks truly on behalf of every Indian about greatness of Rafi Saab. It shows how much Rafi Saab is loved and respected in India and abroad. I have always been a great fan of Lata and Rafi. For me they are the greatest Hindi film singers of all times and was very happy to see Lata receive Bharatratna, the highest civilian award in India.
If government offers "Bharatratna" to Rafi, it would be a dream come true for me and all music loving Indians. At the same time as you discussed in this article, what about other great artists like Pt. Ravi Shankar, Ustad Bismillah Khan, Ustad Zakir Hussain to name a few who equally deserve this honour and havent received it yet. I dont know if an award can pay all the dues to an artist fully. All the artists have immortal memories, love and respect in the hearts of their fans.
I think the Bangladeshi musician who feels that Rafi did not receive his dues in India should think about all those Indian artists who havent received this honour along with Rafi Saab.
The greatness of Rafi sahab cannot be measured by awards or hits but the impact made on the lives of people aroun him.. which other singer has a song dedicated to him " Na fankaar tujhsa koi aur aaya Mohommad Rafi Tu bahut yaad aaya"
