Even the term Sinhala is not of Sinhalese. Sinhala was Tamil kingdom like chera, chola, pandiya or pallava. Ramayan/other Sanskrit text have clear reference to it. The basic sinhala cult is from polynesia and after occuping the south-western coastline, this aliens later occupied the inland southern and central territory along with its 'identity' and people. So altogether they call themselves, Sinhala.
Futhur driving inside, the Central Ellala Tamil kingdom was occupied by socalled Sinhalese some 1000 years back. The western region was %u2018transferred%u2019 during British era and the eastern region is under process, by illegal sinhala settlements and only so they claim eastern region place of all ethnics.
The sinhala in recent past not only harassed Tamils but Malayalis (mapillas, nairs etc) and Telugus (kamavas/naidus) whom were in laks came to island during wartime or for business are settled. Even today the significant Telugus/Malayalis enjoy freedom in eelam forces controlled territories whereas in sinhala controlled more or less have been 'converted' as sinhalas. Those whom objected this conversion had to leave the island fearing harassments. Eg: Former SL president himself is a Tamil %u2018chettiar%u2019 and in southern Sinhala dominant regions actual telugu %u2018kamava%u2019 people are called after sinhalas.
No part of the world has such a long history of discrimination and maltreatment over a cultured society.

YEs India is the land of Indians. But Punjab is the HOMELAND of the Punjabi people. Gujarat is the HOMELAND of the Gujaratis. Karnataka is the HOMELAND of the Kannadigas. These are the areas where the respective people's civilisations and language flourished.

Identities like what you mention change over a period of time. All the Malayalis were Tamils 1000 years ago. Marathis and Gujaratis were not different back then. Oriyas and Kannnadigas were close to Telugus thousand years ago. These identities are not constant. Let's be proud of being a large nation like India which will command a great respect in the coming times. Identifying with hooligan identities like caste, tribe is narrow minded.

why will they do that when they are all part of India? Linguistic minorities need to be protected, but that should not lead to chauvinism among linguistic minorities. People have been migrating from one region to another in India since millenia. As they migrate, they adopt the ways of places they migrate to and refine the culture there by contributing their own. This is not something new to India.

If violenc can be the means of acheiving one's goals, then, Muslims should be ruling the whole world as they have been practicing it for centuries, and LTTE should have been ruling Northern Lanka, Pakistan in Kashmir, Bindranwales in Pubjab, Taliban in Afghanistan, or at best US should be the undisputed ruler of the world as they are perpetrators of violence in the entire globe. you seem to have serious issues with Tamil hatred. How many of them have you met. I don't hold good opinion for some Tamils either who abuse Telugus, but i don't generalize everybody. My best friend still is a Nadar Tamil.

Tamils (not all) have serious problem with others. They never mingle with others and they think Tamil is superior to all the language, even sanskrit. All the languages are good and being loved by their lenguage speaking people but not at the cost of hating other lanuage. Which tamils do, they just hate other language.
whenever there is talk about the national language 1st the dirty tamil politics start opposing it. Except tamil nadu and kerla all part of the India speak Hindi but the tamilians never give respect. why tamilins expect respect from others. They think like they are out of India.
