PEACE OF MIND FOR VAYALAR RAVI
by Vidhyadhar rao on Jun 05, 2007 09:07 AM  Permalink

Dear Shri Vayalar Ravi,

Do not feel aggrieved. We, the people of India, understand your feelings. Guruvayur temple follows extreme path of purity (as per old traditions) and they wash the temple for so many reasons. No one disputes or can dispute that you and your sons and grandsons are HINDU's, as long as you and your family believes in the Vedas. Have peace of mind and submit all your actions to Lord Krishna. Your grandchildren will come up in life in a big manner. Our blessings are with them.

Regards

Vidhyadhar Rao (also a Veda teacher), Chennai

Stop this brahmin bashing

Now a days whatever hindus are doing that is becomming a sin. It is too much. When my elder sister went to Russia, even she was not allowed inside one of the churches as she is not a christian. We never complained. So whats the big deal? Many places of worship dont allow people of other faiths to go inside. Too much of liberalism is not good also. People take u for granted. Thats what is happening wid the Hindus.

Here the discussion is about senseless deeds by some senselees priests that is causing ill effects for hindus and hinduism.

not brahminical arrogance but misinterpretation by few
by kumar kn on Jun 05, 2007 09:02 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

i dont think it is brahminical arrogance. I wish the people in charge at the temple would be more broad minded and understanding. induism considers all as part of god. If a person is entering with devotion it does not matter which caste or religion or planet he/she belongs to.
I pray god will show them the right way.

This is not about Hinduism
by abhishek nair on Jun 05, 2007 08:59 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Question is does the temple belong to a brahmin family or the devotees? My belief is that it belongs to its devotees and should be open to any follower of Hinduism irrespective of his/her parent's religions. Yes, Vaylar Ravi's motivations are always suspect, especially when you consider that he did not raise any problems the last time this happened to his children. It is only because he is more powerful and capable of threatening the temple administration that he is bringing up the issue. However, the truth whether spoken by a known liar or someone else is still the truth. And the truth here is that this is an outdated tradition, and what is going on is a power struggle between the temple families and Ravi. It has very little to do with the devotees or religion itself. It has nothing to do with the institution of Hinduism, because as Krishna says in the Gita, "All paths lead to me."

Rediff benefits

Sensationalist journalism benefits few - such as rediff. The casteist divide in India and the rest of the world is only going to worsen in future.

Why does Ravi Bother?
by Bala Krishnan on Jun 05, 2007 08:42 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Temples do purification puja whenever they feel that anything not according to customs have happened. These things also happen when infants urinate in temples, somebody whose close relative has died enters the temple etc. All this is according to traditional customs which aims to enhance the power of diety. If Vayalar Ravi doesnt believe in such things, let him not enter the temple. Millions of devotees believe in such customs, let them enter. Mr Ravi is also bringing in facts which are not relevant in current scenario. His community is the strongest and one of the richest in Kerala.
